Could Elon Musk Build a Blockchain Smart City in Cooperation with Blockchains LLC?

During the last months, there have been different speculation about a pilot of a Smart City Project. As per certain reports, this project could be backed by the Nevada-based company Blockchains LLC and Elon Musk. Apparently, the Smart City pilot would be conducted inside the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center.

However, the company Blockchains LLC does not seem to be very popular. And indeed, there is not so much information about what the company is planning for its future.

The company’s CEO, Jeffrey Berns, took part in a Tech Summit that was held at Tesla’s Gigafactory. The event was located at the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center (TRIC) and was organized by Nevada’s governor Brian Sandoval.

In January 2018, the company purchased 67,125 Acres piece of land at the aforementioned industrial center and started to build offices there. After the purchase, the company decided to unveil its new buildings located at TRIC: The offices include highly secured installations, developer rooms, public and conference rooms, and a specific area only for ETHNews. ETHNews is an online news site owned by Blockchains LLC.

The company continued its growing and expansion plans. In August 2018, Blockchains LLC submitted a telecommunication service application with the Nevada Public Utilities Commission. In this document, the company informed that it will be working on proprietary blockchain applications, incubate blockchain-related ideas, and more.

Additionally, the application mentions that Verizon Wireless has been in talks with Blockchains LLC to build a cell tower on the company’s property.

On the matter, the document read:

“The tower will contain telecommunications equipment, which will provide a wireless solution that aligns with Blockchain’s Communication efforts on commitment to transforming the telecommunication industry.”

However, the most important thing that triggered the most rumors on the matter was related to the fact that Berns spoke next to Elon Musk. Because of this situation, the community started to suggest that they were both of them working together in a specific project and a collaboration.

At the same time, Berns talked about Blockchains LLC during a discussion panel at the Tesla Gigafactory. He said that they are planning to build a ‘sandbox’ for blockchain technology. Additionally, he mentioned that the company would be employing between 10,000 to 20,000 individuals during the next ten years.

Later on October 23, Elon Musk wrote a tweet that has also led individuals and crypto enthusiast to think about a Smart City. He answered a tweet making a reference to Bitcoin when a user asked about the 2-factor authentication on Tesla.

Finally, Blockchains LLC has also published a new video on its YouTube account in which there is a young girl talking about blockchain technology and a better world with its implementation. At the end of the video, there is a tagline that says “I don’t want to wait.”

At the moment there is no clear information about whether the company is planning to build a massive incubator or a ‘Smart City’ based on blockchain technology. However, the community is already talking about it and everyone is waiting to know what this project is all about.
