Crypto Supporter and 3-D Gun Printer Cody Wilson Sees Child Sexual Assault Charges
Cody Wilson, who is known for founding 3-D printed gun company Defense Distributed and for being a cryptocurrency advocate, has been charged with sexually assaulting a minor.
The unnamed minor, who remains such to protect their privacy, filed an affidavit in Travis County District Court. The affidavit, filed in court, alleges that the victim met Cody Wilson through an online dating website. The affidavit reports that the victim met Wilson through SugarDaddyMeet.com and that Wilson identified himself by name and that his screenname is “Sanjuro.”
The affidavit also describes detailed video surveillance footage from the Archer Hotel, where the assault took place, and footage from a local restaurant, where the victim got out of Wilson’s car after the assault.
Tamara Needles, the magistrate judge determined that the affidavit contained sufficient information for the issuance of an arrest warrant.
Austin Police Department Organized Crime Unit commander Troy Officer reported in a press briefing that Cody Wilson’s present location is unknown and what is known is that his last location was Taipei, Taiwan. Further, although Wilson seemingly had a flight back to the United States, he missed his flight. He added,
“We’re working with national and international law enforcement partners to locate him and bring him to justice . . . [and] we’re working with the United States Marshals to locate him.”
Commander Troy also mentioned that if convicted, Wilson faces anywhere from two to twenty years in prison and a potential fine of $10,000.
