Crypton Labs Blockchain Platform Offers Political & Celebrity Collectibles
There are several platforms in the market offering collectibles stored in the blockchain, but none of them were offering political figures. However, Crypton Labs, a blockchain-based platform allows individuals to collect public and political figures including Donald Trump, Kim Jong Un, Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres.
Each of these Crypton comes with a handcrafted image of the person that represents. It is also possible to write funny or satirical ‘gaglines’ underneath the figure. At the same time it is possible to share them on social media.
For example, some of edgy captions already include Mark Zuckerberg saying ‘Elections are more fun with FB,’ Jeff Bezos saying ‘Poor Donald… I am 100x richer,’ and Sarah Palin saying ‘Don’t misunderestimate me.’
The company behind these Cryptons is Crypton Labs and believes that this is a form of expression that will prove to be far more effective and sophisticated than the messages seen on Twitter. It is also possible for interested individuals to create their own Crypton. Additionally, famous and historical figures can also be collected.
An automatic price escalation feature has been introduce when it comes to ownership. A Crypton can be purchased by someone else if it pays twice the price. It is important to mention that the revenues go back to the person that has lost its collectible, creating a prospect of making a profit. Those interested in keeping the figures are able to pay a one-time protection fee. After paying for this fee, owners can set their own selling price.
For example, for Crypton Labs it would be profitable to buy a Crypton of somebody running for U.S. president in 2020 or 2024. At the moment they might not be worth much, but they could be in high demand in some years.
Varun Grupta is the company’s co-founder and explains that Cryptons do not trade on some celebrity’s image just for profit. Instead, they are a transformative and creative work that is protected by freedom of expression. Furthermore, the company explains that the Crypton personalities are selected after following various criteria, including whether they are of public interest for the people. Until now, the company and the project has not received any legal complaints or queries.
The company explains that there are other ways to generate revenues and not just by selling and buying. For example, if a Crypton that someone owns is involved in a game on the platform, they will be receiving part of the revenue it generates, in this way, the asset can be even more valuable.
Crypton Labs explains that there are many other game ideas in the pipeline. The company is planning to open the platform to developers and let new games appear on the platform. At the moment, there is a game called Angry Mobs that is being actively developed.
In the future Crypton Labs may introduce a token through an ICO to expand even further the possibilities of the platform.
Crypton works with a smart contract for the issuance of special charity fundraiser. Apparently, in the future, the company wants to partner with crypto leaders to raise money for good causes. Instead of using the proceeds from the sale of these collectibles, Crypton will be donating that to non-profit organizations instead. Once the fundraising goal is reached, then the Crypton would revert to its normal profit mode.
The company expects the crypto world to launch their own campaigns on the platform . In order to purchase Cryptons it is necessary to use a MetaMask and Ethereum wallet, but in the future Crypton Labs will be launching an app for iOS and Android devices that would enable all these functionalities on mobile phones.
