Cryptopia’s Funds Are Lost Are Equal To 9.4% Of Their Total Holdings In The Worst Scenario

In a recent tweet released by the New Zealand-based Cryptopia Exchange, in the worst possible scenario, the hackers were able to steal 9.4% of the exchange’s holdings. This is very important for the community, which has been following the Cryptopia case very closely. Back in January, the platform experienced a hack that resulted in several million in virtual currencies lost.

Cryptopia Lost 9.4% Of Their Total Holdings; Or Even Less

The company is currently investigating the situation that ended in users not being able to use the platform and have access to their digital assets. This is why the firm is continuing to work on assessing the impact that incurred as a result of the hack in January.

Cryptopia explained that they are securing each wallet individually in order to ensure that the exchange is fully secure when they will resume trading activities. They have also informed on another tweet, that they will be providing the community with more updates regarding this situation.

Finally, another update, just two hours after the previous tweet, the exchange informed that as a result of the new wallets, users should immediately refrain from depositing funds into old Cryptopia addresses. The exchange has also written that they will be providing more information in the near future about this issue.

The comments in the last tweet seem very positive. The community is currently supporting the company and recognizing that they have been working very hard to recover the funds lost and solve this situation.

On the first tweet, users are worried that the exchange would not be able to reopen because users would be starting to withdraw their funds as soon as possible. Thus, this is something that could harm the whole exchange and community. According to the Twitter user Crypto Cobain, this is probably not going to happen since many assets have their entire market on Cryptopia. Those markets that are also available in other exchanges represent just 5% of Cryptopia’s trading volume, as Crypto Cobain explained.

Back in January, the exchange experienced a hack that resulted in the loss of more than $2.4 million in digital currencies, including Ethereum (ETH) and other ETC-20 coins.
