Dan Larimer’s Bitshares, Steem & EOS Crypto Blockchain Expert

Dan Larimer is popular computer programmers and project managers that have authored a number of blockchain platforms. Larimer is most well-known for his work with the platform Steemit, Bitshares and EOS, an emerging competitor to Ethereum – yet there are other projects he has worked on too.

In this post, we’ll cover Dan Larimer’s involvement in the various projects, as well as the impact of his personal contribution to these platforms.

Dan Larimer Blockone (EOS)

With Blockone or EOS, Larimer leads the development of the technology behind block.one’s Eos project. Some of his notable achievements with EOS is the launch of the first contract with parallel processing, which gives EOS the power to solve the blockchain’s most pertinent problems: supporting large, fiscally-viable applications.

On eos.io’s website, it claims that the platform introduces a blockchain architecture designed to “enable vertical and horizontal scaling of decentralized applications.” EOS achieves this through an operating system-like platform upon applications can be built. The software allows for accounts, databases and scheduling of applications across CPU cores, among other features.

The result is that the blockchain tech has the ability to scale to millions of transactions each second, and lowers fees for easier deployment of decentralized apps.

Cryptonomex

Larimer is the CEO of Cryptonomex, leading the technical vision of the company, which includes authoring technical papers and articles, as well as managing the daily activities of the team.

Cryptomex provides software development services to reach the needs for custom blockchains and other related technologies. The team at Cryptomex claims to have made the most advanced blockchain platforms in the market, which are able to process over 100,000 transactions each second, with confirmation times of less than 1 second.

The blockchains from Cryptonomex can be integrated into a variety of applications, enabling a blockchain-app made from scratch, or integrated into existing platforms to leverage blockchain technology.

Steemit

Larimer is also the CEO of Steemit, which claims to be the first successful block-chain based social media platform.

Steemit works similarly to any web 2.0 platform like Medium or Blogger that allow users to create content on the platform – yet unlike these other 2.0 platforms, steemit incentiviszs its users to post and interact with the platform with cryptocurrencies. Writers can earn hundreds of dollars per post if their posts go viral, with smaller rewards given for upvoting and content curation.

Steem’s internal is STEEM, which can be liquidated in a cryptocurrency exchange to real-world dollars. Users can post a variety of different content that suits their skills and interests.

Bitshares

Dan Larimer is the CEO of Bishares, a decentralized asset exchange platform that provides support for price-stable currencies and industrial performance and scalability.

Bitshares also offers blockchain technology for banking and financial services, and is presently one of the most popular platforms in this space. Users can choose between the cloud-based Bitshares platform, or they may download the Bitshares client that can run on most operating systems.

Features of Bitshares include a block explorer, migration guide and comprehensive documentation.
