Deloitte Launches Live Blockchain in a Box Demo Application to Pilot Real World Use Cases
Big-name companies are creeping into the crypto industry as applications for the cutting edge technology continue to be developed. Many top firms, especially in the financial industry, are working on blockchain projects of their own in a bid to stay ahead of the curve as the technology gets closer to mainstream adoption.
One of the big four firms, Deloitte, has launched its blockchain project. The project, named Blockchain in a Box (BIAB), is designed to provide its users with blockchain demonstrations and experiments and expose these users to the various applications of blockchain technology.
Deloitte’s clients will be able to get a first hand feel of what blockchain technology is and what it can do through this platform. The firm used its customers’ interests to build BIAB and now these clients can get a glimpse of how blockchain technology would impact their interests.
Deloitte’s BIAB is a mobile application which is capable of playing host to a wide range of blockchain projects. The application runs on four small form factor nodes and provides users with three video displays. It also allows users to connect with external services they might need. If a user needs to make use of cloud computing services, for example, BIAB will connect them to such a service.
Each customer can get a demonstration of blockchain solutions which would be applicable to them and their work. Each of the four computer nodes takes Secure Digital (SD) cards and a user can upload the necessary media onto the node. This allows the system to generate possible blockchain solutions tailored to the exact needs of the customer.
Linda Pawczuk, a principal at Deloitte Consulting LLP, and a leader in the American blockchain industry, said that BIAB is built to demonstrate blockchain’s capabilities through live interactions. She added that many people do not understand that blockchain is a technology component that gives businesses a variety of applications and solutions. The mobile application they have built gives their customers a practical and tangible feel of what blockchain solutions could do.
Reactions to BIAB Demonstrations
Several Deloitte customers have witnessed BIAB demonstrations. The firm has also given the blockchain community a glimpse of the application at various conferences such as Consensus 2019.
According to Chih-Wei Yi, a principal at Deloitte & Touche LLP, the platform has been received well in the places where the firm has done demonstrations. Witnesses at the demonstrations show excitement and curiosity, and the audience leaves with a better understanding of blockchain and its implementation in different use cases.
The approach taken by Deloitte in providing clients with live demonstrations of blockchain solutions will revolutionize how people learn about the technology. It gives potential blockchain users a practical taste of what they would get from the technology and it is a great shift from other methods of education.
