dGoods Digital Goods Standard: Mythical Games’ Blockchain Project
What Is dGoods Digital Goods Standard?
Developed by Mythical Games, EOS Lynx, Scatter, and other key blockchain firms the dGoods standard is a new free and open source standard that handles various virtual items built on the EOS blockchain. As the popularity of blockchain technology increases in the gaming and entertainment industry, dGoods seeks to play a major role as the industry standard.
Recently, Mythical Games announced that the standard was developed with the aim of formalizing the global digital items marketplace between creators, consumers and studios and creating a standard that will save developers the time and effort required in the code deployment thus enabling them expand and roll out their ideas more smoothly.
dGoods Operates On The EOS Blockchain
Additionally, Mythical Games anticipates that through the dGoods standard it will be able to support a development community that creates, manages, and distributes digital products via the EOS blockchain. The dGoods standard is designed to enable users to integrate and easily display virtual items, which is attributed to functionality improvements.
With its head offices in Los Angeles, Mythical Games is a game technology studio that focuses on creating game IPs and a digital ecosystem for economies that are player-owned in order to bring creators, players, and brands together in the game entertainment industry.
dGoods Features
The features of the dGoods standard included in the version 0.1 are;
Metadata Templates For 3D And 2D Assets
On the dGoods standard, the templates for the metadata will be specified depending on the type of virtual that the user is dealing with. For example, if the virtual item is for a ticket, coupon, game, music file or art, a standard template will be designed in order for wallets to have the ability to display the necessary information on the items, 3d objects and in some cases images.
Multiple Categorized Tokens In One Token Contract
In current token standards, only one token is in contract meaning that if the developer wants to add any other different token, they will have to acquire another contract, which is more costly and complex to undertake.
Although the dGoods standard has one token per contract, developers can create multiple sub-tokens. Developers can then assign the sub-tokens a category, token name, and tags, which will enable cryptocurrency wallets and dApps to easily filter or organize the tokens.
Fungible And Non-Fungible In One Contract
Most of the standards today only allow developers to select either Fungible or non-fungible tokens which is restrictive to game and dApp developers that might want to support both types of tokens. Since on dGoods supports sub-tokens within one contract, developers can decide to make some of the tokens fungible and other non-fungible.
Certificate Of Authenticity
The dGoods standard is integrated with the ability to record the items details in an immutable manner. These details will be part of the items Certificate of Authenticity. The records will also be used as proof of ownership that will help consumers to find out information about the items such as its brand, uniqueness and its creator.
Open Source Functionality
Currently, the dGoods standard free and open for the entire EOS development community however there are no restrictions for other blockchains that might want to adopt the standard.
