Dragonglass is available as a free download today from the Google Play Store. An iOS version is also available, although you’ll need to follow the instructions here to install it (it’s not yet available from the iOS App Store).

The game itself seems like a basic 2D platform-style adventure. You guide a miner through various levels, dodging obstacles along the way.

Dragonglass tokens are fully functional ERC20 tokens built on the Ethereum technology. It’s mined using hybrid mining technology that is “thousands of times more efficient” than traditional cryptocurrency mining on bitcoin and other currencies, according to the official Dragonglass website.

The main goal of the currency is to introduce the general public to cryptocurrency mining.

How Does Dragonglass Mine Through Mobile Gameplay?

The major unique thing about Dragonglass is that users mine through mobile gameplay. All you do is play the mobile app, and Dragonglass will mine the blockchain.

How Exactly Does That Work?

Well, behind the scenes of the game, the Dragonglass app is working to multiply your tokens and make cryptocurrency transactions.

During the game, you “play” by guiding your miner through rocks and gravel deeper and deeper underground. The deeper you go, the more levels you complete. Each successfully completed level multiplies your initial Dragonglass tokens.

If you originally had 1 Dragonglass token (DGS) before starting the game, then you’ll have 11 DGS tokens after 10 successfully completed levels. If you don’t complete a level, then you’ll have to try again. Your tokens only multiply when the level is completed successfully.

Interestingly, the Dragonglass miner game doesn’t even use your smartphone’s resources: it’s just mined exclusively through gameplay. Here’s what’s happening behind the scenes:

Step 1) The user sends Ethereum tokens (a minimum amount of 0.05 ETH) to the Dragonglass TGE contract to buy X number of DGS tokens

Step 2) The Dragonglass TGE smart contract triggers a transfer of X number of DGS tokens (only possible when buying DGS tokens during the Dragonglass TGE) to the user (the user is allowed to mine X * 10 DGS)

Step 3) The user imports his or her personal wallet with the received DGS tokens into the Dragonglass app

Step 4) The user launches the game and starts playing

Step 5) Each time the player successfully completes a level, it triggers a DGS token transfer event

Step 6) Mining logic is triggered in the smart contract, and 50% of the user’s DGS balance is sent to oneself

Step 7) The mining logic in the smart contract calculates how many tokens can be mined based on the transaction value and user’s balance/stake

Step 8) The game checks to make sure the user is allowed to mine a specific amount (10 times the original) of DGS

Step 9) If the user is allowed to mine that amount, the transaction fee (gas) is paid in ETH (because DGS is an ERC20 token on the Ethereum blockchain, and the Ethereum Virtual Machine requires some gas to be paid in order to execute the smart contract)

Step 10) The transaction is completed

Step 11) New tokens are generated and added to the user’s balance

You can also mine Dragonglass outside the game by making DGS transactions to yourself, with transaction fees paid in ETH.

The game is endless: the first 10 levels are custom designed, while the remaining levels are generated randomly each time you play. There’s no “winning” the game – unless you consider earning cryptocurrency to be winning.

Who’s Behind Dragonglass?

Dragonglass was created by two software engineers, including an 18 year old programmer from Vilnius, Lithuania named Gleb Skibitsky, and former Slack employee Mart Lume. The team also includes 13 more team members and 5 advisors.

Dragonglass has scheduled a token generation event, or TGE, during which they plan to raise 30,000 ETH.

The entire total supply (100%) of 1,111,111,111 Dragonglass tokens (DGS) generated during the token sale will be sent to contributors. The token sale will be the only source of funding for the Dragonglass project.
