Elon Musk Tweets Mysterious Bitcoin Message To His 30 Million Followers
Friday, January 10, Elon Musk dropped a bomb tweet about Bitcoin (BTC), in which he’s joking that the term used for the coin is not his “safe word”:
Bitcoin is *not* my safe word

It took only a few minutes for the SpaceX and Tesla’s executive tweet to go viral by all the standards of Crypto Twitter, as his post gathered hundreds of likes per minute and is continuing to do so. Obviously, the cryptocurrency community riled up immediately, with the Bitcoin 2020 Twitter account answering with a thinking emoji that got the tech billionaire to send back a wink.
The Moon Answered with a Thesis on BTC’s Value
The very popular crypto analyst The Moon saw Musk’s tweet as a great opportunity to post a thesis on what makes BTC so valuable and to promote the cryptocurrency to the 30 million people following the tech billionaire on Twitter. Peter McCormack, the famous BTC podcaster even poked Musk to join one of his podcasts.
No Change in the BTC Price
Elon Musk’s tweet didn’t bring any change to the BTC price. Perhaps if he would have said “It’s time to buy BTC”, things would have been different, but he will most likely never do this since he posted in the past some infamous tweets.
Am considering taking Tesla private at $420. Funding secured.

Musk Pays Attention to the Crypto World
While most of the time making fun of cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin in general, seeing he joked that he’s Dogecoin’s chief executive on April Fool’s Day 2019, not to mention he once tweeted the word “Ethereum” randomly, Musk seems to have an interest in the digital assets technology. He’s clearly mysterious about where he’s standing, as this is what he tweeted in April last year:
Cryptocurrency is my safe word
— Buff Mage (@elonmusk) April 13, 2019
Later after his January 10 “safe word” tweet, he made another joke and tweeted, “Toss some dogecoin to ur Witcher.” but has since deleted it, leaving this tweet,
🎶 Toss a coin to ur Witcher 🎶
— Buff Mage (@elonmusk) January 10, 2020
This was in reference to the “Toss a Coin to Your Witcher” song from the Netflix show The Witcher. One thing is for certain, Musk loves to be mysterious. Is he saying that Bitcoin is “not” his safeword, but perhaps Dogecoin is?
