EQUI Global Blockchain Venture Capital Fund Launches by Steve Wozniak, Apple’s Co-Founder
Apple Co-Founder Decided to Get Involved with Blockchain Technology in New Venture Capital Fund
Blockchain technology began as being a synonymous technology with cryptocurrency but has since become its own venture that multiple industries are adapting. Steve Wozniak, who co-founded Apple, has since found that he wants to get involved too, launching a new venture capital fund called EQUI Global.
Wozniak actually decided to get involved in August specifically, and has take on a role as co-founder. The EQUI Global fund will be powered by blockchain technology and aims to make a big difference in the way that non-institutional investors are processed. The platform will also be tied in with cryptocurrency as well, since it will over EquiTokens for trading, based on the same blockchain as Ethereum. Decentralized application developers will be able to use the tokens in their own work, considering the shared platform.
The main audience that EQUI Global seems to be going after are “sophisticated” investors, according to Verdict. They want investors to go through EquiToken, and the whole model will support the trading experience, making it easier to use cryptocurrency exchanges to liquidate tokens. Based on information provided in reports, about 80% of the investments that EQUI Global makes will specifically put towards technology companies, though their other ventures will include a variety of industries, like real estate and art.
Wozniak has commented that the mission of his endeavor is to “seek, support and fund the blockchain and tech stars of tomorrow,” and he claims that there are already 20 businesses in the works for collaboration. Unfortunately, these details have not been confirmed or announced for launch officially. Wozniak also emphasized how rare it is that he gets involved with these projects, despite being offered “dozens” of opportunities daily.
The EQUI Global website was developed about a year ago, though the actual model of the company has gone through many alterations. The original plan, it seems, was to host and promote an Initial Coin Offering (ICO). However, it seems that the plan hasn’t seen any more progress. Wozniak spoke about what he plans to dedicate to EQUI Global, saying,
“We are the teachers and I believe in that so strongly because, Apple was strongly mentored. The enjoyment we had, the passion, starting the company, the excitement, it’s the most exciting thing. I like to see it happen for others and just to be a part of being able to help make it happen for a lot of others out there is going to be a big deal for me. I think I have an important role and I can help a lot.”
Wozniak has been on the fence about blockchain technology. In June, only a few months ago, he said that the hype around blockchain is just a “bubble,” much like the internet in 2008. However, his stance towards cryptocurrency has seemed positive, considering his comments in the same month, saying that “only Bitcoin is pure digital gold.”
