Espers is a blockchain project that aims to offer secure messaging. Find out how it works today in our review.
What Is Espers?
Espers, found online at Espers.io, provides secure websites and messaging on the blockchain. The goal is to create a secure system where websites can be built on the blockchain, and messages can be sent on that same blockchain.
You can download an Espers wallet today from the official website. You can also purchase ESP tokens from various exchanges. The token currently has a market cap of $41 million, with a total maximum supply of 50 billion ESP.
Let’s take a closer look at how Espers works.
How Does Espers Work?
Espers is a blockchain ecosystem that currently consists of a mobile wallet, a secure messaging system, masternodes, light clients, and more. The project was first launched in April 2016, which is when the Espers coin (ESP) was launched.
Today, there’s a wallet for Windows and Mac. There are multiple mining pools and multiple exchanges where you can buy Espers.
Please note that there are two versions of Espers: there’s ESP1 (running on the old Espers chain) and ESP2 (which is the main version of Espers). However, all exchanges (except YoBit) currently sell ESP2.
Overall, the Espers chain is based upon BTC version 0.10+ with a blackcoin reference implementation to add PoS to the chain. The Espers Velocity system provides custom chain security and a custom difficulty retargeting system, while “Xodes” are custom masternode implementations that will be added in the near future.
In the future, Espers also wants to offer blockchain as a service (BaaS) on a hybrid PoS and PoW chain. The announcement thread also mentions proof of reliability, or PoR, which is listed as still in development.

Espers Blockchain-Based Websites & Messaging Coins Features
Espers comes with all of the following features:
Windows Auto-Updater: The Windows auto-updater will soon be ported to all other operating systems.
PoS Overview: The Espers PoS system only allows good blocks to be mined, which removes the possibility of being rejected.
Custom Masternode System: The Espers team is currently building its own custom masternode system.
Secure Messaging: Espers provides secure, blockchain-based messaging. The messaging protocol is specifically designed to help users avoid illicit surveillance.
Custom Retargeting Algorithm: The Espers custom retargeting system is called VRX. It’s designed to ensure that users no longer receive orphan blocks.
Who’s Behind Espers?
Espers is a personal project created by an individual named CryptoCoderz (Lead Project Manager and Developer).
Other key members of the team are listed under pseudonyms like Monoxide (Assistant Project Manager), Arsonic (Lead Web Developer and Graphics Designer), and CTGiant (Assistant Developer).
Espers is a blockchain ecosystem that primarily focuses on two main areas: website development on the blockchain and a secure messaging protocol. Today, you can download ESP wallets from Espers.io for Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. You can also stake your coins to earn 25% interest per year.
The long-term goal of Espers is to create secure websites on the blockchain and secure messaging through a system of masternodes. It will make websites load more quickly while also giving users complete control of their data.
