Ethereum’s Vitalik Buterin Affirms Bitcoin is a “Genuinely Cool Tech”, Bashes BSV as “Pure Dumpster Fire”
No one could say that the Bitcoin community is actually very united at all. Bitcoin Core was forked into the Bitcoin Cash, which was recently forked into Bitcoin ABC (now the “real” Bitcoin Cash) and Bitcoin SV. The co-creator of the Ethereum network, Vitalik Buterin, talked about these issues and defended the original Bitcoin while he bashed Bitcoin Satoshi Vision (Bitcoin SV).
Buterin used Twitter to discuss with Tuur Demeester on Christmas and talked about the pros and cons of the two most popular algorithms being used by cryptos. You should probably know them already: Proof of Work and Proof of Stake.
As Buterin does not have a lot of faith in Proof of Work (mining), he wants to change Ethereum to Proof of Stake, a long-time promise that was not fulfilled just yet.
During the conversation, Demeester has affirmed that Bitcoin, which invented Proof of Work, is having difficulties to scale its model and that alternatives like the Lightning Network are a joke. Buterin, however, disagreed and defended Bitcoin.
According to the co-creator of Ethereum, Bitcoin has a “cool technology” and while he has his disagreements with some of the technology, like Proof of Work, they are trying to do something valuable. Bitcoin Satoshi Vision, however, was described as “pure dumpster fire”.
In a huge twist, no mobs started to attack Buterin. Bitcoin SV has earned a bad reputation recently, especially because Craig Wright, one of its main supporters, generally attacks a lot of Bitcoin SV naysayers. Wright has recently claimed that he was the real Satoshi Nakamoto and things only went downhill for him ever since.
Despite all this, it does not look like any BSV fans were out to take on Buterin this time. I guess we can all thank Christmas for this day of peace.
