EtherTulips: Ethereum-Based Tulip Trading Blockchain Game?

We can all recall the now-commonplace phrase that the rapid emergence of cryptocurrencies is a bubble that might burst soon. But many probably don’t know that the use of this phrase to refer to revolutionary inventions and happenings isn’t something new. For instance, in the 1600s, the Dutch experienced a high-profile bubble called Tulip mania that had gained notoriety thanks to their clandestine passion for fighting these plants with each other.

Why EtherTulips?

Aside from the fact that these brightly colored jewel of spring do well in those areas that experience cold winters and dry summers, Tulips are mysterious herbaceous plants. There are vast varieties of them, primarily for different settings and they were a massive hit among besotted gardeners of the Ottoman Empire.

In the 1600s, these plants were the most expensive flowers in Holland, even more, valuable than many people’s houses. They became a lot like Bitcoin today, prices inexplicably increasing and at some point, these plants were actually a form of currency. Everywhere, including the then famous smoky tavern backrooms, middle-class Dutch traded them. Unfortunately, the bubble finally burst in 1636-37 when the mania finally hit its peak!

Ethereum-Based Tulip Trading Blockchain Game Is Back

As at today, many of us are aware of the countless, exotic and fascinating applications of the Ethereum blockchain technology. From terrific uses that will probably affect the world to miniature ones, not forgetting CryptoKitties, EtherTanks, and Etheremon, the technology has been earth-shaking.

The Tulip mania is back, thanks to the blockchain technology and a group calling itself “bored college students.” The bored lot decided to increase the level of this craze by placing virtual tulips on the ETH Blockchain!

Right now, its development is at its initial release, and you can buy “Gen-0” Tulips. Every time you purchase seed, you’re given a random tulip out of 1000+ varieties. The whole approach is still in its infancy phase, but the excitement the various seeds will bring aboard is incredible!

Battle Stats

• The virtual Tulips have six battle stats, namely Health, Damage, Agility, Armor, and Intelligence and all these are numbers that range from 0 to 100, fundamentally based on the DNA of the Tulip. The numbers are averaged, and those tulips with higher stats are regarded superior.
• The stats are chosen out of nostalgia to feel how battles of the 1600s felt.

What’s In The EtherTulips Offing?

As the “bored college blockchain enthusiasts” advance their development, it’s safe to say the game will be exciting. They’re currently developing two games – on-chain and off-chain.

1. The on-chain game will pay homage to the original tulips craze as players will challenge each other and tulip stats will be sourced from the battles. Of course, it will be electric to see or play!
2. The off-chain game will, however, be a rendition of tower defense when pure, sought-after tulips would be defended from waves of other species. Stats on this game will be drawn from the player’s inventory.
