Europol Gamification Works to Teach Crypto-Centric Officers How To Trace Digital Currencies

Europol has been working on a game that would allow officers to learn how to track virtual currencies and transactions on the blockchain. This would allow the law enforcement agency of the European Union (EU) to fight against criminal activities in the space.

This is just one of the many topics Europol is discussing with regulators. Europol is currently hosting the sixth cryptocurrency conference with around 300 experts present at the meeting.

Most of these regulators and private sector experts are learning about Europol plans for virtual currencies. One of the most interesting things is related to a game that the agency is launching to train its personnel on how to track crypto transactions.

Europol Works On A Game To Track Crypto Transactions

Europol is currently working on a game that will help officers trace virtual currencies. The conference in which this was announced was organized by Europol’s European Cybercrime Centre (EC3) and it was hosted between June 12 and 14.

The main goal of the conference was to strengthen cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the private sector. The goal is to detect and prevent crypto-enabled crime. At the same time, it is also important to recover the assets that were lost by individuals and companies after attacks.

This game has been developed side by side with CENTRIC, the Centre of Excellence in Terrorism, Resilience, Intelligence and Organized Crime Research. With it, the intention is to have officers that will have training on how to understand and trace crypto transactions.

As per the report, the intention is to launch this game in October and it is expected to be unveiled at the seventh Europol-INTERPOL Cybercrime conference. The platform is going to use gamification to create training opportunities. Nevertheless, there is no more information available about this project.

A short time ago, Europol shut down a $200 million cryptocurrency mixing service called Bestmixer. As reported by Cointelegraph, the service was offering crypto mixing services to criminals and other individuals. The website of the mixer has now been blocked and it is being investigated.
