Experty, found online at Experty.io, is a blockchain platform that incentivizes connections and consultations worldwide. Here’s our Experty review.
What Is Experty?
Experty is a blockchain platform that aims to allow knowledge providers to connect with knowledge seekers through a two-way communication platform.
The Experty whitepaper was published online on August 15. Experty’s ICO is scheduled for October 25.
The whitepaper explains that today’s knowledge transfer system is inefficient. Today, we have many tools and applications we can use to connect two or more parties for voice and/or video calls. However, existing tools are inefficient at monetizing the exchange of knowledge. There’s no incentive for knowledge providers and knowledge seekers to share personal contact information with one another and connect for a meaningful conversation.
Experty’s platform is designed with two parties in mind: “knowledge providers” and “knowledge seekers”. The knowledge provider is someone who is an expert in their field, or someone who has unique access to knowledge that other people don’t have. It could just be someone like a celebrity, or anyone who people are willing to pay to chat with. The knowledge seeker, on the other hand, is someone who is searching for that knowledge or video chatting experience and is willing to pay for it.
Today’s system is inefficient for both these parties. Knowledge providers – the experts – are bombarded with requests from all different types of people.
Knowledge seekers, meanwhile, often waste time looking for the right knowledge provider, or they waste time waiting for a reply that never comes.
Experty aims to monetize these communications internationally and transparently using the power of blockchain technology. Funds can be transferred worldwide on a global scale without relying on an intermediary or marketplace.
How Does Experty Work?
Experty is a blockchain platform that helps knowledge seekers connect with knowledge providers. The knowledge seeker pays the knowledge provider over the Experty platform.
The goal of Experty’s blockchain is to facilitate the international transfer of funds without relying on an intermediary or marketplace. The platform uses the Ethereum blockchain and Ethereum smart contracts to transfer funds automatically after certain market conditions are met.
Experty will use its “operations contract” (OC) to complete this transaction.
Calls between knowledge seekers and knowledge providers are set with a predetermined cost per minute of conversation time. This connection occurs through a direct call link, or QR code, which can be placed in any social media platform or messenger.
The provider will be notified of a potential caller and will be able to schedule a call. When the call is complete, the OC (the smart contract) settles the charges based on the knowledge provider’s rate.
Here’s how the Experty whitepaper explains the ultimate outcome of the exchange:
“We believe Experty will save countless man hours due to increasing efficiency and accessibility to human knowledge exchange worldwide. Our solution will help level the playing field especially for those without access to the traditional banking system.”
Here are some of Experty’s core features as outlined in the project’s whitepaper:
Fully Decentralized Call Links: The goal of Experty is to allow experts to share their paid call link whenever and wherever they want. This avoids relying on Experty to create a marketplace. Knowledge providers can use the network in places where they are already known and trusted experts – like message boards, social media websites, blogs, etc.
Instant Payments: Experty’s payments occur on the Ethereum blockchain after the call based on a price per minute. The operations contract (OC), or smart contract, provides the security of a payment settlement system. Callers will need funds worth at least 30 seconds of calling time in order to complete a call. If a caller’s funds are running low, they will be notified in advanced, and disconnected automatically when funds fall below the per minute rate.
Cross Platform Calling Application: Experty will have dedicated calling applications and software programs for most major platforms. The company has announced plans for Windows, iOS, and Android apps. They also plan to integrate Experty with third party video calling applications – so users will be able to use their preferred video calling application while still depending on Experty for reliable payment transfers.
Availability Schedule: Knowledge providers – the experts – can set their availability time, allowing them to easily prevent all calls outside a given timeframe.
Ethereum Wallet: Experty’s applications will have a built-in Ethereum wallet for managing funds.
The Experty mobile app is outlined in the whitepaper, including screenshots of the app in action and deep technical details about how the platform operates, how it processes payments, and how it facilitates a P2P connection over the blockchain.
Experty hasn’t finalized its pricing model yet. The app will likely be free to download and use. The only time you pay is when you make a call.
Right now, it appears that the knowledge providers will be charged a fee for using the platform. The whitepaper explains the fee is expected to be around 13%, but it could be higher. However, “the knowledge provider will never receive less than 80% of fees accrued during a call,” explains the whitepaper.
Uses For Experty
Obviously, the word “knowledge provider” is very vague. The platform is setup to be used by all types of individuals.
Some of the proposed use cases include for professionals like:
- Medical providers
- Business advisors
- Bloggers or YouTubers
- Celebrities and influencers
- Webcam models
- Charitable causes
If you need a quick 5 minute chat with a lawyer specializing in personal injury law, for example, then you may turn to Experty for support. Or if you need a quick medical consultation, you could use Experty to get professional advice without needing to visit a hospital in-person. Uses can also be extended to celebrities, YouTube stars, bloggers, athletes, or whoever else someone is willing to pay to interact with.
Who’s Behind Experty?
Experty is led by Kamil Przeorski, CEO and Founder, Tomasz Dyl, CTO and Co-Founder, and Greg Kucmierz, Blockchain Engineer and Co-Founder.
Experty has offices in Gliwice, Poland and Zug, Switzerland.
The Experty Token Sale
The Experty token sale is scheduled for October 25, 2017 at 2pm UTC.
The maximum cap of the token sale will be 200,000 ETH. Bonuses are available for early contributors, as well as for larger contributors. Those who contribute less than 10,000 will receive tokens at a rate of 100 EXY per 1 ETH.
Experty is a Skype-like video chatting platform that plans to monetize communications between “knowledge seekers” and “knowledge providers”. The platform gives both parties a way to interact and transact with each other in a transparent, easy-to-use way. Knowledge providers – like lawyers, medical professionals, celebrities, or business advisors – can charge a specific rate per minute. Knowledge seekers – like those who need legal or medical help, or someone willing to pay to chat with a celebrity – can use the platform to find what they’re looking for.
The Experty crowdsale begins on October 25. You can learn more about the platform online today at Experty.io.
