Famous Greek Actor Argyris Xafis Calls For Crypto Donations To Help Athens Fire Victims
The death toll from wildfires that swept through a seaside area of Greece last week rose to 91 on Sunday and officials said 25 people remained missing. Nearly 200 people, including children, were injured in the blazes. The fire broke out in multiple places simultaneously in forest areas on July 23. Fanned by winds of up to 60 miles per hour, the fires quickly grew into raging infernos. More than 1,000 homes and 300 vehicles were either destroyed or damaged by the fires.
To help with this monstrous tragedy, Argyris Xafis, a prominent Greek actor called for donations in cryptocurrencies. Argyris Xafis started the charity campaign on his Twitter page on July, 25 as he realized that lots of people have lost everything in a blink of an eye and showed a willingness to help.
“We, the crypto community, have the duty to stand up for the people in need and provide our support in these difficult times. Please use the below button to donate to those families that were hit by the recent catastrophic events. Make sure you share this page with the rest of the crypto community; as more members become aware of our cause, the closer we get to reaching our goal. Thank you in advance for your support and contribution.”
These are the motivational and inspiring words written on the website by Argyrs aimed at the crypto community to step up their efforts to help with the fundraising.

Even though the fundraising campaign is now over, the semi-success of this venture gives hope for more projects like in the future. The ability of cryptocurrencies to do hasslefree borderless transactions can be demonstrated to the skeptics through events like these.
