Feud Ensued: Supposed “Bitcoin Creator”, Craig Wright Calls McAfee, “McScammer,” John Fires Back Hard

  • Self-proclaimed Bitcoin creator, Craig Wright engages in heated arguments with eccentric crypto enthusiast John McAfee.
  • McAfee and Wright both accuse each other of being scammers.

Wright Still Hasn't Signed Bitcoin's Genesis Block

Craig Wright has been trying his hardest to convince the crypto community that he is Satoshi Nakamoto, the original and unknown creator of Bitcoin. People have yet to buy the story as the CEO of Bitcoin SV was previously asked to sign the genesis block – something he has never gotten to doing.

All this being said, Wright has supposedly called John McAfee a scammer among many for the sole reason of supporting anonymous systems in his blog reports CCN. In particular, the CEO argued that anyone for an anonymous system is so because it implies doing illegal activities. He added that:

“It is people such as John McAfee, whose life has been an endless series of scams,” adding that the likes of McAfee are the ones more likely to, “run Ponzis and scams.”

McAfee didn’t just sit there as things unraveled, and since becoming aware of what was shared, shot back, leaving the community in shock and laughter. Here’s what McAfee had to say:

“Craig Wright – the Satoshi pretender soon to be unmasked, has called me a scam artist. I take no heed because Craig is no better judge of a man than he is a specimen of one.”

It seems like McAfee has also been one to talk of revealing the true Satoshi Nakamoto, but like Wright, he has never been able to prove it. The news outlet pinpointed that McAfee, ‘claimed the very same only to renege on his promise days later,’ and this was supposedly due to the results of a trial that might backfire on him.

McAfee: “I Am The Real Craig Wright”

Bearing the initial claims made in mind, Wright didn’t simply take part in name-calling, but has since provided an example of McAfee’s activities, to which the latter shared his side of the story. The CEO of Bitcoin SV noted that McAfee has been known as a ‘pumper and shiller of altcoins.’ However, the latter has owned up to his mistakes, one example being the Finacoin.

What’s gotten many laughing away is McAfee’s claims of being Craig Wright, poking fun at Wright “being” the creator of Bitcoin. Here’s what was said on Twitter:

“I am the real Craig Wright. I can prove it. Absolutely. I’m filing a patent on my existence as Craig Wright. I can prove I am at a finger’s snap. But I’m not going to […] I will be suing Craig soon for impersonating me.”

No One’s Buying Wright’s Claims

Wright’s confidence in making claims of being the creator of Bitcoin is merely because of the fact that he was granted copyright for the Bitcoin whitepaper. A recent Coin Desk reporting referenced CEO of Coinsummer, Wei Liu, who also happens to have registered for it. When the news outlet reached out, Liu simply said:

“I filed it just to let people know anyone can register a copyright. Everyone can be Satoshi Nakamoto.”

Amusingly, this was done just days after Wright registered his copyright as well. Liu revealed said news simply because of Wright’s supporters who argued that the latter was the only one able to do so.

Another individual that was picked on by Wright was CZ, claiming the latter’s crypto exchange was ‘wash trading and laundering money,’ reports U Today. Said arguments were supposedly made after Binance delisted SV, to which CZ previously explained how delisting works:

“We periodically review each digital asset we list to ensure that it continues to meet the high level of standard we expect.”

Coin Desk reported that SV may have lost its shot in the exchange due to Wright’s continuous rants on Twitter. CZ previously tweeted the following, which resonates with many crypto fanatics and leaders today:

“The real Satoshi can digitally sign any message to prove it. This is as simple as breathing for him/her. And we have the pub key.Until then, everyone is Satoshi, except Craig Wright!”

“Bitcoin Was Never a Cypherpunk Experiment,” Says Wright

Wright has allegedly expounded on Bitcoin’s role in an article in which he claimed that, “Bitcoin was never a Cypherpunk experiment,” adding that he was, “opposite of many others on the cryptography mailing list.”

According to Ethereum World News, the aforementioned claim does not match what’s been shared in the whitepaper – especially considering the fact that Wright is hateful of privacy and anonymous systems. In particular, Ethereum World News pinpointed the following from the whitepaper:

“Privacy is necessary for open society in the electronic age. Privacy is not secrecy. A private matter is something one doesn’t want to know, but a secret matter is something one to know […] Privacy in an open society requires anonymous transaction systems […] We cannot expect governments, corporations or other large, faceless organizations to grant us privacy out of their beneficence.”

One might be confused as to what Nakamoto’s intentions may have been in remaining anonymous from the start. One might argue that they were being humble, but if that was so, then seeing a figure like Wright bullying others clearly contradicts it. Was anonymity used to simply remain safe?
