Fidelity Digital Assets Crypto Platform Adds Ex-Barclays Investment Bank Executive to the Team
Changing the leadership in crypto firms is fairly common, whether to bring on individuals with substantial expertise or to keep the platform decentralized. Recently, Fidelity Digital Assets decided to add Chris Tyrer, who used to be an executive with the Barclays investment bank. Fidelity Digital Assets is the crypto platform that Fidelity Investments, an American financial services company, created.
Announced on April 30th, Tyrer had already worked with digital assets with Barclays as the Head of Digital Assets Project, Head of Commodities Trading, and the Global Head of Crude Oil Trading, according to his information on LinkedIn. Tyrer worked with Matthieu Jobbe Duval to try and establish a trading desk for digital assets with Barclays in 2018. However, the plans were delayed as a result of falling asset values last year.
For select clients, Fidelity Digital Assets went live at the beginning of last month. Tom Jessop, the head of the company, commented that there were still parts of the platform that were in development. He said that while there were a few clients that the platform on-boarded in January oh, there are some that will have to wait until September. The determining factors for the addition were “the facts and circumstances of each client.”
Earlier this month, Christine Sandler, who also worked at Barclays, was hired as the new Head of Sales and Marketing for Fidelity Digital Assets.
