Kallon, an experienced individual when it comes to the use of technology and food safety has been working on the Ifoods Chain platform He has taken on several roles in his career, ranging from the government relation consultant for China’s peace and ICBC to other similar firms like the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Finance Institute and more. He is supposedly an expert when it comes to the financial sector, as he has been maintaining a strong relation with McKinsey, Boston consulting and KPMG to name the least.
2012 To Become The First Change Of Direction
Although he has earned a reputable name for himself, Kallon eventually directed his own career path towards food. In July 2012, he took part in the National Youth Food Safety Knowledge Competition. According to Kallon:
“At the time, many children in primary schools actually grew beards… this phenomenon only illustrates the problem that children eat too much hormones.”
Hence resulting in the commencement of food journey. The two years that followed was supposedly spent focusing of health education for young children as well as the notion of “food safety”, which eventually became widespread.
As he dug deep into such matters, he soon realized that food safety was no simple task and that it lacked a great deal of control and a credit system. In particular, he said:
“For food enterprises, especially large food enterprises, they are the least willing to appear food safety. Problems, but the greater the enterprise, the procurement and logistics part of the more difficult to manage, many food enterprises have to face counterfeit products.”
Kallon’s First Encounter With Blockchain Technology
Kallon was aware of the blockchain technology since the 2013 launch of Bitcoin. This not only had the central bank’s attention, but also his. After holding up to his keen interest for nearly two years, his interest supposedly became a passion and resulted in an indulgence.
It was in the same year as his growing interests, 2015, that Kallon met with Lin Ruji, a PhD recipient in food science at the UoG in the US. Like Kallon, Ruji also took on several challenges as a senior manager of basic science, technical director and M & A, consultant of national food safety and many other roles. He is also known for his patents in regard to food technology, R&D, production, traceability, AI and technological optimization.
What brought the two passionate individuals together was their common strive for improving food safety and ensuring that consumers are provided quality food. Eventually, the two agreed on the implementation of blockchain technology in resolving food safety concern.
Prior to starting the Ifoods Chain, Kallon was keen on blockchain’s efficiency, so both Kallon and Ruji applied the technology to several government poverty alleviation projects, got the China Telecom National Agricultural cloud laboratory to push back poverty alleviation projects in beef cattle, and focused on the aspect of “traceability” within food.
The two have successfully implemented blockchain technology in several projects, but that did not stop them. While Kallon was happy with how things were going, he still felt that food safety was not completely perfected, and that’s when the idea of Ifoods Chain came into existence.
2017, How Ifoods Chain Became A Thing
Kallon realized that simply focusing on traceability as the main facet of food safety, was not going to do it. He began to question himself as to how “pain points in food safety and quality test” should be attained. His discussion with Caron in 2015 started floating in his mind, and that’s when he decided to come up with a plan that addresses the several negative aspects of food safety and to provide users with a reliable solution.
Ifoods Chain was registered by September 2017 and focused on the following key points:
- Implementing blockchain technology to promote food production on a global scale
- Improving food safety
- Combining “blockchain and intelligent hardware” to ensure consumers can assess food quality
- Providing consumers with food-related knowledge
The Ifoods Chain Team
Kallon’s work with Ruji, led him to seek partnership with him. Ruji agrees and today, serves as the Chief Scientist of Ifoods Chain. Ruji went on to invite several heads within the food and blockchain industry to form an alliance. Some of the members include:
- Li Yanbo, a development consultant for blockchain
- Fan Zhikai, a master of Instrument Science and optoelectronic, R&D in Chinese food and drug mgmt., Operation of blockchain projects
- Li Yiling, former overseas manager of NEO, district chai community consultant
- Feng Lishuang, Chief Hardware Scientist
To add to the experts who have joined this project, Kallon believes that each member is:
“concerned about the healthy growth of the next generation, we hope to improve the global food safety with the help of blockchain technology.”
The Anticipated Launch Of Ifoods Chain
At the moment, this innovative project is set to launch in June 2018, with the potential release of its Super Probe for C terminal in October of this year. By the end of the year, the team claims to have the centralized distributed transaction community for B terminal on track as well as the complete development of the core structure of one main chain and two applications.
The Super Probe is said to crucial, as it will used to test meat on the Ifoods Chain Smart Device. It is supposedly a MEMS food test dApp blockchain app system that has been created for users of all types including consumers, businesses and food companies. It takes on a simple design that is easy to carry, handheld and provides immediate results.
Unlike most projects that promise to make changes, the Ifoods Chain is different, as the founders have attempted real-life uses and created it as advancement to the successful endeavors.
