The official announcement about the Australia launch states:
“Australia is currently ranked 12th globally for bitcoin trading volume and we are optimistic that Gemini will help encourage broader adoption for crypto in Australia. Today, Gemini is available in a total of 49 U.S. states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and Australia!”
Speaking on the launch, Tyler commented:
“We are thrilled to continue expanding our global footprint and give Aussies a safe and trustworthy cryptocurrency experience. We founded Gemini to build trust in this nascent technology and we look forward to building that trust in Australia.”
To thank the users for their support and to celebrate the Austrlian launch, they are initiating the semi-annual Gemini Crypto Extravaganza, which is an event to airdrop Bitcoin and Ethereum for promotion. Everyone can participate in the airdrop, including those in the United States. The competition will last until all the 5,000 BTC and 10,000 ETH are airdropped.
The Winklevoss twins expressed their interest to join the Libra Foundation yesterday. Cam thinks that all internet companies will have to have a crypto strategy. They're probably watching Libra and Facebook to see how that fares as they develop it.
Earlier this week, in an attempt to beef up their security, Gemini exchange had hired David Damato as their new Chief Security Officer. Gemini has been showing tremendous growth in the past few months, and DAmato is joining at the right time. In just last year, the firm has expanded to more than 200 employees and has built out its senior leadership team.
