German Report Claims That EOS Devs Will Release New Social Media Platform in Big Announcement Today
- German publication Handelsblatt may have exposed new social media platform by Block.One.
- Block. One will be sharing details on June 1st during a keynote speech in Washington, DC at 8pm EST.
The cryptocurrency community of Germany knows Handelsblatt as a local business paper, but the rest of the world is about to know it too. First noticed on Decrypt, it looks like this publication just reported an upcoming announcement, planned for tomorrow.
This announcement would come from an EOS developer, who will tell the public of EOS’s plans to launch a social media platform that is supposed to surpass the performance of Twitter. So far, this rumor is gaining traction, though there will clearly be no actual resolution for another day.
Handelsblatt quoted “financial insiders” on this rumor, saying that the new platform will see Block. One as the co-founder of the platform. Christian Angermayer, a biotech investor from Germany, was named by the publication as one of the other co-founders. However, Block. One and Angermayer have not responded to requests from Decrypt to learn more about the story, as the former implied that no other details would be given.
According to the rumors, the new Block. One platform will be providing users with compensation via advertising revenue as they create posts and “like” other posts. This news outlet also alleges that the platform will be much like Facebook and Instagram in its features, though users will be able to get involved with a crypto token. Most likely, if the rumors are to be believed, then EOS would be the launchpad.
Block. One presently serves as a venture capital firm for the EOS blockchain, possessing a 10% stake. While co-founder and celebrity Brock Pierce has been promoting a major announcement with EOS, he only posted an ominous image regarding the upcoming changes:
If anyone wants to know what this means, rather than unraveling some conspiracy theory or rumor, Block. One asked that interested users tune in on Saturday at 8pm EST when they assemble at the Capital.
Our teams are assembling in #WashingtonDC from all over ahead of #B1June – want to watch the keynote from @bytemaster7 and @brendanblumer ? We’ll be sharing it online soon after at https://t.co/SWnpm2T4va pic.twitter.com/m5H55hFWmp

Could this be true? Or do you think this report is completely off? There are others out there that have made a big joke about this announcement. Calling it the announcement of an exit scam:
