What Is goTenna Mesh?

GoTenna Mesh is an off-grid peer-to-peer communication network that pairs to a user’s iOS or Android device via Bluetooth and creates a service signal for sending 1-to-1 or group messages. The network targets GPS locations in areas that lack cellular connectivity. The GoTenna Mesh is useful during hiking in remote locations, natural disasters such as storms or tsunamis that disrupt mobile networks, crowded concerts or sports events, and much more.

The messages can be sent further than the point-to-point ranges depending on the size of a network; the bigger a network is the stronger the communication.

The mesh happens when someone within a user’s location also has a GoTenna device. The user’s device connects to the other device in order to extend the network further. Users of the device can strategically position the GoTenna devices in desired areas, a step that increases coverage.

To begin using the device, users download the GoTenna app first and pair it to their mobile device through Bluetooth. Once this is completed, users can send messages, GPS locations or public broadcasts to others users within that area. For every message sent, there will be a confirmation receipt.
