goTenna Mesh: People Powered Mesh Network For Phones?
What Is goTenna Mesh?
GoTenna Mesh is an off-grid peer-to-peer communication network that pairs to a user’s iOS or Android device via Bluetooth and creates a service signal for sending 1-to-1 or group messages. The network targets GPS locations in areas that lack cellular connectivity. The GoTenna Mesh is useful during hiking in remote locations, natural disasters such as storms or tsunamis that disrupt mobile networks, crowded concerts or sports events, and much more.
The GoTenna Mesh weighs 1.7 Oz and is 4 inches high, which is significantly smaller and lighter than standard walkie-talkies. It is attachable to backpacks or clothes through its flexible silicon strap. Its battery life lasts 24 hours, which depends on the number of messages transmitted, and is chargeable within 1 -2 hours using a USB cable. The Mesh has a LED indicator and a weatherproof exterior that can endure all kind of rain or grime.
The mesh network is able to relay messages automatically and privately through other devices such as cell phones. A mesh network consists of everyone who owns a GoTenna Mesh. The messages can be sent further than the point-to-point ranges depending on the size of a network; the bigger a network is the stronger the communication.
