Guinness World Record Awards Dan Larimer the Highest Number of Crypto Exit Scams, Says Satirical Article
Exit scams are a major risk in the cryptocurrency industry. These scams often involve a product that appears to be invest-worthy, only for the team or individual running it to close up shop without notice, taking the funds of investors along with them. One popular scam artist in the industry is Dan Larimer, and the Guinness Book of World Records recently acknowledged him as the individual responsible for the most exit scams for the entire cryptocurrency industry on Thursday, according to reports from Coin Jazeera.
Some of the better-known scams that Larimer has brought to the market include Bitshares, Steem, and EOS, though he has recently announced plans for a fourth project (or possible exit scam) to come in. Even though Larimer still is telling the public that he is the CTO for Block. One, GitHub shows that there is been no action between Larimer and EOS since October.
Meant to be a satirical article more than anything else, the publication joked about how Larimer described his latest progress on a sh*tcoin he has been developing. Speaking about the new project, Larimer said to Coin Jazeera that his “muse” is “greed.” He explained that he managed to bring in $4 billion for himself with EOS, and he says the next target he has is for $8 billion.
Multicoin Capital’s Kyle Samani spoke with the publication as well, speaking about the choice he made to support Larimer’s effort. He said that his “job is to hedge into Ethereum competitors.” The publication quoted him as saying that Samani has no idea what he is doing, and that he wishes he had chosen to invest in Ethereum back in 2014.
Keep in mind that the articles of CoinJazeera are meant to be in jest and good humor, though the fact remains that Larimer has been a part of his share of exit scams.
