HelloGold – Buy & Sell Gold Online Investment Mobile App?

HelloGold is a mobile app that promises to let you buy and sell gold anywhere, anytime. Here’s our HelloGold review.

What Is HelloGold?

HelloGold, found online at HelloGold.com, is a tokenized gold investment service that promises to help anyone invest in real gold that they actually own.

As the HelloGold.org website explains, “the amount of money in a person’s wallet should not be a barrier to his ability to access financial products that the rich enjoy.”

With that in mind, HelloGold wants to lower barriers and reduce costs in the gold industry. The company offers a digital gold-backed token that will democratize and digitize gold-based savings and financing.

The first goal is to release a gold-backed token. In the future, however, HelloGold envisions a platform that offers full gold-based investing, remittance, and lending services. The pre-sale for HGD tokens began in August, and the five stages of the crowdsale are takig palce throughout September.

How Does HelloGold Work?

HelloGold describes itself as “a financial inclusion platform”. The platform, which can be accessed through mobile apps for Android and iOS, makes it easy to invest in a digital gold market.

The mobile apps allow users to borrow and send gold at a minimum transaction threshold of 0.25 USD. HelloGold users can use the app to better preserve and diversify their wealth while also being able to access short-term financing.

Overall, HelloGold aims to solve problems like:

  • An over-reliance on cash for savings
  • Credit facilities that aren’t available to the mass market at an affordable price
  • It’s too expensive and time-consuming to remit money

Ultimately, this makes gold a more attractive investment opportunity. Users can use HelloGold to buy a small weightage of gold per purchase. They pay the same international spot prices.

Most importantly, HelloGold users genuinely own the gold they buy. The gold bullion is stored in a vault in Singapore. It’s fully insured against physical loss, and is fully redeemable as physical bars and coins, cash, or jewelry.

Technically speaking, HelloGold’s back-end consists of a central web service built on Ruby on Rails (RoR), which provides the core interface for HelloGold’s mobile applications. In the future, HelloGold plans to add Ethereum smart contracts to the core system to provide two benefits, including better security and transparency.

HelloGold Features

Some of the key features of the platform include:

Mobile Apps:

You access the HelloGold marketplace through the use of mobile apps for iOS and Android.

Small Minimum Purchase:

HelloGold has a minimum purchase of just 0.25 USD per transaction. This makes gold investing more affordable, and users can make smaller gold purchases on a recurring basis.

Gold Certificates Of 1/1000 Grams:

HelloGold offers gold investments in small weight-age amounts. This gives users more flexibility and the ability to save or gift gold.

Cash Top Ups:

HelloGold accounts can be topped up with cash directly, or with online baking systems. HelloGold also plans to implement additional top-up mechanisms – like through mobile wallets – in the future.

Lost Wallet Recovery:

Customers can retain access to their gold even if their mobile wallet is lost. HelloGold has recovery mechanisms in place.

Physical Gold Redemption:

All gold in the customer’s account can be redeemed, and the physical gold can be delivered to the customer.

Collateralization For Access To Credit:

HelloGold users can access credit provided by channel partners, allowing them to obtain financing for assets while also accessing personal finance for short-term cash needs.

Ultimately, the goal of HelloGold is to become the leading gold-based financial services platform. It not only wants to help people buy and sell gold in a cheap and easy way – it also wants to offer financing, lending, and other gold-based opportunities.

HelloGold Pricing

The HelloGold platform will charge fees on various transactions and services, including a 2% fee for buying or selling gold, a 2% annualized management fee for vaulting, securing, and insuring the gold, and activity-based admin fees (plus an adjustment for inflation from facilitating loans) estimated at 2 to 3%. This amount is payable by the loan provider – not the customer. If a customer takes out a HelloGold loan, the annual management fee is waived.

Who’s Behind HelloGold?

HelloGold is led by CEO Robin Lee. The team consists of ex-regulators, business experts, and technologists with direct experience in general management, financial management, payments, settlement systems, business development, programming, blockchain technology, financial messaging standards, operations management, financial inclusion, micro-credit, compliance, risk, and auditing.

The HelloGold Token Sale

The HelloGold pre-sale began in August. It was invitation only, and it completed on August 24, 2017.

The general crowdsale began on August 28 and is broken into five “tranches”. HGT tokens are available for purchase with ETH. The last stage of the crowdsale is expected to end on October 2.

HelloGold Conclusion

HelloGold is a blockchain-based gold investment platform that aims to change the way we buy and sell gold. HelloGold will break down the barriers of gold investments and reduce costs. The first goal of HelloGold is to introduce a token-based gold marketplace. As the platform grows, however, HelloGold has ambitious plans to offer complete gold-based loans and remittance services, among other financial services.
