Huawei Uses AppGallery To Give Bitcoin Wallet Access to Those in China
In the near future, Huawei Technologies Co. will allow its users to download a Bitcoin wallet on their devices starting on Friday. With this new release, Bitcoin will keep its path towards mass adoption in the Asian country.
Huawei Launches Bitcoin Wallet
The third largest mobile producer in the world, will allow its users to download a Bitcoin wallet on their devices. The information has been released by Alejandro de la Torre, Vice President of Business Operations at BTC.com, during a phone interview with Bloomberg.
During the call he said:
“It’s a good opportunity to tap into the Chinese market. The use of cashless payments with apps is very big and the traditional banking system is lacking, so there’s a good use case for crypto payments to grow there.”
The move from Huawei is very important due to the fact that China is not an open country towards cryptocurrencies. During this and the last year it has imposed several restrictions to Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs), trading activities, and digital currencies in general. Though, the situation was expected to change with the new governor of the People's Bank of China.
Dr. Jaime Gonzalo, vice president of Huawei Mobile Services said:
At the moment, Chinese citizens are allowed to own bitcoin and other virtual currencies, and Huawei will help those individuals find a wallet where to store their virtual currencies. The application will be available for download using Huawei’s app gallery which is pre-installed on Huawei phones.
BTC.com, is also owned by the giant mining company Bitmain. The enterprise is now in control of the world’s largest mining pool for Bitcoin and it has no near competitor.
