International Cannabinoid Research Society (ICRS) Accepts Bitcoin Donations in Big Day for Hemp
The blockchain technology is still being tested to see where it best fits. Undoubtedly one major solution it offers is a value transfer from one person to another, in a censorship-resistant yet transparent way.
Thus, Bitcoin has gained fame (or notoriety, depending on one's point of view). With continuous, impressments by developers cryptos are only getting more popular. Now International Cannabinoid Research Society [ICRS] has seen the potential and begun accepting money from this source.
For the uninitiated, the ICRS is a scientifically inclined body that has no religious or political affiliations. The organization is purely dedicated to research in all fields of the cannabinoids, such as biochemical, chemical and physiological studies.
In an attempt to provide a balanced platform for research and debate, the society released a statement on their website to note that they accepted Bitcoin donations. The website went on to describe Bitcoins
“are a new type of digital currency that you can send and receive instantly over the internet, then exchange to any local currency – with much lower fees than other routes”
One can also donate BTC anonymously, by using their wallet address.
At a time when the coin is being doubted for its viability, it is a good sign that organizations are adopting it. How fruitful this endeavor will be, only time will tell.
