Ionomy is a mobile gaming ecosystem with multiple apps for Android and iOS. Find out everything you need to know about Ionomy and the ION cryptocurrency today in our review.
What is Ionomy ION?
Ionomy is a gaming platform created by Ionomy Studios. The studio makes mobile games, then rewards competitive gameplay using a digital currency called ION.
You can treat ION like any other digital currency. Gamers get 50% discounts on Ionomy Studios game items when buying with ION, for example. Investors can trade, hold, and transact ION.
The studio’s has several major games released or in development, including an iOS and Android app called “The Moon or Bust”. It’s an arcade style game where you dodge planes and satellites, then collect fuel and power-ups along the way. The first one to the moon wins.
The Ionomy.com platform was announced in April 2016 via a BitcoinTalk.org forum thread.
Overall, the core goal of Ionomy is to make it easier for developers to add monetary incentives to their premium or freemium games.
How Does Ionomy Work?
The Ionomy platform revolves around a digital currency called ION and a platform called PWR-GRD. ION is described as a cryptocurrency “dedicated to mobile gaming, and most importantly…for anyone who loves the internet, games, cryptocurrency, earning, and all things fun.”
PWR-GRD is a full-service suite that helps developers build great games “from creation to community.” It helps developers setup ION-based incentives, for example, including crowdfunding, cash rewards, in-game currencies, real money trading, integrated advertising, and gameplay analytics.
As announced in April 2016, there was an initial coin supply of 10.9 million ION tokens. 3.4 million ION tokens were participation incentives given away by Ionomy.com. The remaining tokens were given away through the ICO (5 million ION) and through bounties (2.5 million).
ION has an average block time of 70 seconds. The blockchain has an average transaction fee of 0.0001 ION (paid to masternodes).
Today, the Ionomy ecosystem can be condensed to four core components:
- Games: Ionomy Studios aims to make games that reward competitive gameplay using ION tokens, because, as the official website explains, “games are more fun with ION.”
- Platform: Gamers get 50% discounts on Ionomy Studios game items when using ION tokens. Gamers can manage their ION balances through the Ionomy.com wallet, allowing them to easily trade and hold their digital currency.
- Tokens: ION tokens power Ionomy Studios games. Additionally, game developers can create custom tokens for their in-game currency under the symbol RMT.
- Tools: Ionomy has a toolset that allows users to crowdfund, monetize, and promote games in the ION Ecosystem.
As of February 2018, Ionomy’s network has 500+ active nodes generating 22.1 ION per day, which works out to about $2000 USD per month.
Today, Ionomy has a number of games in its ecosystem, including all of the following:
Crypto Gravity (iOS and Android)
Ionomy is described like “Super Mario in Space”. It’s a classic action platformer-style game where gravity mechanics are combined with simple touch controls. Gamers can compete against other Ionomy players in weekly tournaments where they can win rewards in the form of ION. “Jump and shoot your way through the galaxy to restore the power of blockchain to the people”
To the Moon (Beta)
To the Moon lets you guide your rocket from the earth to the moon while avoiding planes, missiles, asteroids, “and the occasional whale.” Simple tilt controls provide a game that’s easy to learn, difficult to master. You can earn upgrades to your ship to make your trip quicker, burn less fuel, or both. There’s also a “Plant the Flag” challenge where gamers can earn a reward. The first gamer to reach the moon will receive a big prize. To the Moon is currently in beta.
UrbanWords (In Development)
UrbanWords is described as “a word game for adults”, kind of like Cards Against Humanity, “but even edgier and more obscure. Gamers see definitions from Urban Dictionary, then have to find hidden slogans in a word search. As the words get progressively more obscure, players can unlock hints with in-app purchases.
Ionix (In Development)
Ionix is a simple touch game that rewards speed and accuracy. It’s designed to be addictive and straightforward. Gamers need to connect ions floating on their screen by matching colors together. Players race against the clock. You can play just for fun in arcade mode, or compete against other gamers to earn valuable rewards in a ranked match.
Who’s Behind Ionomy?
Ionomy is led by Adam Matlack (Chief Strategist), Richard Nelson (General Manager), Jordan Smith (Developer), Mitchell Cash (Developer), and Fornax A (Developer).
The official Ionomy.com website lists a registration address in the Seychelles.
Ionomy ION Conclusion
