Italy Set To Adopt Blockchain Technology, Thanks To VeChain And DNV GL
The head of the Høvik, Norway-based registrar and classification society, DNV GL, has introduced his thoughts on VeChain to the Italian Ministry of Economic Development. DNV GL, whose mandate is to safeguards life, property, and the environment and boasts over $19 billion in revenues, is the biggest quality assurance and certification provider on the planet.
It is the most recognized brand in the global logistics chain with over 13,000 vessels and lots of mobile offshore units found in over 100 countries. And in a bid to add another cap to its feathers, the company’s digital transformation director, the company is looking to partner with Italy’s national Blockchain taskforce.
This comes in the wake of a video of the national blockchain taskforce formed to oversee the adoption of this technology by the Italian government. The meeting involved among other things, the public blockchain platform VeChain and included the Italian Minister of Economic Development, Renato Grottola.
Grottola who doubles as a member of two bodies; the Italian Association of Independent Certification and Inspection Bodies, as well as the steering committee of VeChain, is no stranger to all-things Blockchain. In the video, he’s seen sharing his sentiments on the opportunities and the challenges available on the platform.
VeChain is a household name in the Blockchain industry given the solutions it offers several sectors. It also deals in customized physical audits, data collection and authentication services that help track commodities and information. It does this alongside DNV GL on MyStory using a unique decentralized application that ensures all processes are seamless and transparent.
As per the New York Times, Italian products contribute to at least 5% of the country’s GDP. And with the rising costs or production and the cut-throat competition in the industry over the recent past, lots of malpractices have infiltrated the supply chain.
With the introduction of the Blockchain system, it is highly expected that the ensuing transparency and accountability will eliminate these ills. It’s something that everyone in the steering committee, including Grottola who is part of the team, is positive about.
