Jesus Coin – JC ICO Decentralizing Cryptocurrency Blockchain?

Jesus Coin is a digital coin that – no joke – claims to be “decentralizing Jesus on the blockchain.” Find out how it works today in our review.

What Is Jesus Coin?

Jesus Coin, found online at JesusCoin.network, is an ERC20-compliant token that claims to be 37% more effective than prayer and offer faster transaction times when communicating with god.

The Jesus Coin crowdsale is taking place throughout September. Despite the unusual nature of the coin – and the obvious satire – the coin has raised 148 ETH at the time of writing, giving away a total of 2271 “JC” tokens.

Overall, the goal of Jesus Coin is to decentralize Jesus on the blockchain. While some companies want to decentralize real estate or online gambling, Jesus Coin wants to decentralize Jesus for the benefits of Christians worldwide.

How Does Jesus Coin Work?

Honestly, I can’t explain this cryptocurrency better than the cryptocurrency explains itself:

“Using the cryptographic breakthrough of the blockchain ledger and anonymous cryptocurrencies, Jesus Coin has been developed as the currency of God’s Son. Unlike morally bereft cryptocurrencies, Jesus Coin has the unique advantage of providing global access to Jesus that’s safer and faster than every before.”

There’s a total supply of 13 million JC. There’s even a 16 page whitepaper – which is a longer whitepaper than some of the more legitimate businesses we’ve seen online before.

Overall, Jesus Coin’s whitepaper describes how “Christianity is the largest grouping in the world, with over 2 billion followers, and we deserve our own currency.”

With that in mind, Jesus Coin wants to become the de-facto currency for all Christians. The coin has ambitious goals in mind. The creators “project that Jesus Coin will overtake the Mormon church’s $40 billion valuation to become the second most powerful Christian institution by 2030, and surpass the Catholic Church’s $1 trillion valuation by 2050, thereby becoming the most powerful Christian institution in the world.”

The Jesus Coin ICO

The Jesus Coin crowdsale began on September 12 and lasts until November 12. The initial price is relatively expensive: 1 ETH = 12 JC. Seed creation will be capped at 13 million JC.

98% of all Jesus Coins are being allocated to crowdsale participants because, as the whitepaper explains, “unlike other unnamed religious institutions, such as the Catholic Church, the founders of Jesus Coin see no merit in hoarding onto the value of the followers of Jesus’s son.”

The whitepaper insists that Jesus Coin is not a joke, and that the token is a real, functioning cryptocurrency. As far as we can tell, the Ether address is real – although it’s unclear if you’ll genuinely receive JC tokens in return for your investment.

Jesus Coin Features

Jesus Coin’s official website advertises all of the following features:

Sin Forgiving: “Jesus Coin is negotiating with churches to outsource sin forgiveness.”

Faster Transaction Speeds: “Record transaction times between you and God’s son.”

Predicted to Achieve $50 Billion Market Cap: “Predicted by Peter (not the disciple)”

Fast P2P Transactions: Jesus Coin is an ERC20 token built using the power of the Ethereum blockchain “for fast pilgrim-to-pilgrim transactions.”

Portfolio Growth: “Jesus Coin will provide spiritual guidance to all your other crypto assets, helping grow their combined value.”

“Saves From Hell”: “Jesus Coin is guaranteed to save all of its owners from hell (except Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Bahai, Buddhists and Sikhs).”

Jesus Coin also claims to be 37% more effective than prayer, be 65% more useful than charity, and have 8.3% more betrayals by disciples.

Where Can You Spend Your Coins?

Here are some of the proposed use cases for Jesus Coin, as outlined in the whitepaper:

  • “Jonathan, a Catholic, raises Jesus Coin to carry out a new Crusade”
  • “Emma, a Mormon, buys Jesus Coin to miraculously cure her mother’s flat feet.”
  • “Gary, a Jew, buys Jesus Coin due to confusion.”
  • “Greedy bastard Wall Street trader, Adam, buys Jesus Coin to pump and dump.”

Who’s Behind Jesus Coin?

Jesus Coin is led by Jesus Christ, listed as Founder and CEO. Other key members of the team include Judas Iscariot (Trustee), James (Customer Service), Saint Peter (Public Relations), Augustus Caesar (Team Manager), Philip (Blockchain Developer), Herode (CFO), Bartholomew (Business Development), and Jesus’s Donkey (Customer Service).

The Jesus Coin website, by the way, is copyrighted from year 0 to 2017.

Conclusion: Is Jesus Coin Real?

Jesus Coin is certainly a satirical cryptocurrency. However, as far as we can tell, the cryptocurrency is 100% real and currently going through an ICO. The ICO is taking place from September 12 to November 12. Jesus Coin appears to have already raised over 148 ETH during the crowdsale. The tokens are relatively expensive, priced at 1 ETH = 12 JC.

It’s unclear if this is a pump and dump scheme, a creative scam, or a legitimate attempt to create a unique ERC20 cryptocurrency. In any case, you can decide for yourself today by visiting JesusCoin.network, where you’ll also find the token sale currently underway.
