Jihan Wu Will No Longer Speak at Upcoming BTC 2019 Conference Due to his PSA “BTC is Hijacked”
- Wu has often spoken out against BTCs dev community since he believes that they have, over the years, implemented a number of changes that go directly against Satoshi Nakamoto’s original vision for the premier digital currency.
- Jihan’s name was taken off from the official conference roster after he issued a number of tweets in which he claimed that the Bitcoin ecosystem had been “hijacked” by the project’s core developers.
Bitmain Co-Founder Jihan Wu Will Not Attend Bitcoin 2019 Conference
Just a few hours after Jihan Wu tweeted out a message saying that Bitcoin Core being hijacked, one of the primary organizers of the ‘Bitcoin 2019 Conference’ came forth and announced that Wu had been taken off from their list of people scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at the event.
As per the aforementioned tweet that was released a couple of days back, Wu announced to the world that “Bitcoin had been hijacked” and that the project’s core developer committee had initiated a number of changes that went against the very ethos of the currency.
In this regard, it should be pointed out that as per a video released by Chronos Cryptoto, the independent altcoin analyst highlighted a number of changes to the BTC ecosystem that he himself had spotted over the past couple of years and how they were adversely affecting the integrity of the BTC project.
Since the very beginning, Wu has been a vocal proponent of increasing BTCs native Block Size — so as to mitigate issues related to mempool congestion that are often found to increase the transaction fees and confirmation times associated with a particular crypto project.
Back in 2017, BTCs native processing charges/ fees skyrocketed, thereby causing many casual enthusiasts to be completely turned off against the otherwise burgeoning asset class.
“Disappointed” That Wu Will Not Be Attending
Notably, just a few hours after Wu posted his final tweet regarding this entire ordeal (3:27pm PST to be precise) , David Bailey — one of the main organizers of the BTC 2019 Conference — posted the following message on this official twitter handle:
“Disappointed to share @JihanWu will not be speaking @bitcoin2019conf. I’ve known Jihan for many years, since Bitmain was underdog battling corrupted BFL&KNC, and have great respect for his contributions and the company he built (by age 30!).”
