Kim Dotcom to Fight Monopolies with Crypto Project K.IM, Talks to Max Keiser About Release
In the recent KeiserReport, Kim Dotcom was interviewed on his viewpoint on the crypto sphere, mainly in the form of his anticipating project, K.IM.
As per Dotcom, his project is a peer-to-peer commerce in which consumers will be able to upload their content into containers, which then require crypto payments to unveil the contents. He describes the endeavor as,
“a new way to do e-commerce without all the middlemen, banks [and] credit cards.”
When asked how K.IM fits into “the ecosystem of content” especially given YouTube’s recent decision to demonetize and Twitter’s plans to de-platform, he said:
“K.IM delivers the promise of the internet; freedom of speech, freedom of e-commerce and freedom of finance,”
emphasizing that all come in one package. He also noted that the platform’s nature is founded on decentralization, which implies that the users are the ones to manage the containers of files.
As for the creation of servers, he disclosed that it’s the use of API’s that permit the implementation this on a global scale.
The Internet entrepreneur’s previous project, Mega supposedly housed four percent of the internet traffic, when asked if he can achieve such heights again, if not more with K.IM, he replied:
“The sky is the limit. With this service I believe we can get even bigger and the great opportunity […] is that we take advantage of limitations that get introduced these days.”
The latter is in reference to how existing social media platforms are getting “politically-engaged” rather than serving as a platform purely for communication.
Speaking more on how Bitcoin’s lightning and liquid plays a role, he argued that the duo solves delays in keeping promises. In particular, he said:
“The thing is […] the whole [crypto] industry is still evolving. It is evolving rapidly, but a lot of the promises have been delayed, and issues had to be resolved. So, liquid and lightning are two examples of how to make crypto work better and [at] real-time […] All the pieces are now coming together.”
Nonetheless, he still strongly believes that
“Crypto is taking over, and there’s no stopping this train.”
Kim Dotcom is known for fighting for intellectual freedom, namely with the copyright industry. Bearing this in mind, he spoke of monopolies and how greedy they are in terms of gaining control of social media platforms. Interestingly, K.IM uses technology to not only avoid monopolies, but also maximizes on consumer benefits.
Finally, when it entails what’s to come in the near future for the Founder and Chief Evangelist of K.IM, he mentioned being part of:
“The next round with Bitfinex, listing of our token on the day of launch, […] a token that will be available as soon as the service is available. People can try it out, can see it first before they decide if they want to get involved or not.”
