Known Bitcoin Core (BTC) Developer Jimmy Song Discusses B Foundation
Jimmy Song, one of the most popular Bitcoin devs in the world, has recently decided to reveal his points of view on the new Bitcoin ecosystem, the B Foundation. During his broadcast on Youtube, Song has shown appreciation for the project and urged his followers to at least give it a chance.
The announcement of this new enterprise was made by Alena Vranova, co-founder and CEO of Satoshi Labs, as well as the director of the BHB Network. The foundation has been created to promote Bitcoin and to get more external support for this growing community.
Way back in 2012, the original Bitcoin Foundation was created by John Carvalho for basically the same reason. The project did not work out as well as it was expected, though, as many of the members of the foundation were ostracized by the community.
According to Carvalho, things got worse and worse as the organization tried to be an official representative of a very decentralized community and they were accused of shady deals. Also, there were reports of problems with elections and a fairly poor performance of competence from the board.
Song Believes That The Foundations Are Not The Same
On his video, Song has defended the idea that the B Foundation and that the former Bitcoin Foundation is simply not the same thing, as the new one is considerably more prepared to deal with the problems that finished the history of the first one. According to Song, it is a mistake to believe that they will both follow the same destiny.
He has also affirmed that this new foundation existing does not necessarily indicate that there will be any control over the environment, as they will not try to lead BTC to a certain path like the prior foundation originally did. According to him, they will support the ecosystem and call attention to the projects but not try to take over Bitcoin as some seem to fear.
Song has stated that the B Foundation will support different projects without telling them what to do and that this is a great thing. Also, he believes that a huge number of people want to contribute to the Bitcoin ecosystem but do not know to who they should donate and that this can essentially help in the problem.
He finished the video by stating that it was the choice of the viewers to trust the creators of this foundation or not.
