Kraken Exchange Brings in New Hires to Expand Team with High Level Positions
The Kraken Exchange, based in the United States, has been working to improve their team lately, which is now coming with a few new additions. The company just posted a blog about the changes that they are making, which will include several high-level hires.
The new hires include:
- Matt Mason, Chief Marketing Officer
- Steve Hunt, Vice President of Engineering
- Nelson Minier, Head of OTC Sales and Trading
- Bob Zagotta, Head of Business Operations and Strategy
- Mary Beth Buchanan, General Counsel
Before Mason was employed with Kraken, he worked as a studio head of a secret innovation lab at Sony Pictures, helping with game mechanics. His resume also includes time at BitTorrent Inc. as the head of marketing and chief content officer, though it also shows some experience in the music and advertising industries.
Hunt’s 20 years of experience in leading engineering teams have easily prepared him for his new role. He has worked for multiple companies in this sector, including Jump Trading and Goldman Sachs. Another one of these hires with two decades of experience in his specialty is Minier, working with Credit Suisse, JPMorgan Chase, Citibank, and others.
Most of Zagotta’s experience has been in the development and launching of many new businesses. He comes directly from CME Group, where he served as Senior Managing Director of Strategy and Execution, though his full legal career is three decades long. He has served at Bryan Cave LLP, the United Nations, and the US Department of Justice.
Last month, Kraken acquired Crypto Facilities, and the trading volumes on the platform skyrocketed. Right now, Crypto Facilities is regulated by the UK Financial Conduct Authority, which pushes Kraken’s exchange services directly into the UK market. Though the trading volume of Crypto Facilities was only about $7 million daily in January before the acquisition, the post-acquisition daily volume increased to about $32 million daily last month, reaching $110 million on one of the days.
