Kylie Jenner ‘Hodls’ a Spot Amongst Bitmain, Ripple and Coinbase CEOs in Forbes’ Billionaires List
Anytime you can loop in language about Kylie Jenner and cryptocurrency-oriented headlines, it might be a good idea to test the waters, especially if it is about being self-made billionaires.
Ever since news revolving around Forbes’ 2019 list of self-made billionaires was made public, debates sparked as a result. In particular, it involved that of Kylie Jenner, who has become a successful businesswoman through her makeup line. While many have since praised her for her success, the fact that she is deemed “self-made” has puzzled consumers!
While Kylie Jenner’s fortune is said to combine other factors, which include the “Kardashian/ Jenner brand” via the Keeping Up With the Kardashians (KUWTK) reality show, and possible support from her family, it seems to be her cosmetic and skincare/personal health products are the star of the show. A post on crypto coins news further argued that such support contradicts the notion of “self-made” in Jenner’s case, which indirectly questions Forbes’ process for selecting candidates.
Another case that has since been made is the potential playing of numbers done on Forbes’ part. An example given is that of Donald Trump, who supposedly requests for “a better ranking on Forbes every year,” notes CCN, ultimately resulting in subjectivity in net worth.
As noted by U Today, those who have made the list from the crypto and blockchain world include Bitmain’s CEO, Jihan Wu who supposedly has a net worth of $1.5B, followed by Coinbase’s CEO, Brian Armstrong who is valued at $1.3 billion and Ripple’s Chris Larsen, who made the same list in 2018 with a net worth of $2.1 billion.
What are your thoughts on Kylie Jenner sharing the space among the likes of crypto leaders? Is she deserving of the title, “Youngest Self-Made Billionaire”? A better question we might conclude this piece on is just how many cryptocurrency-related entrepreneurs and business owners will be on the Forbes 2020 billionaire list?
