This will allow it to receive tips and contributions in Basic Attention Token (BAT), which one of blockchain's leading applications and use cases for the greater world. The reason why this is significant is due to LA Times being the fourth largest newspaper in the United States and it is operating since 1881 with 37 million visits per month.

LA Times Becomes a Brave Verified Member

On April 11, 2019, the LA Times decided to sign-up and become a verified Brave browser publisher. In this way, it will be joining a selected group of sites that have already been accepted as members of the Brave community.

In this way, content creators will get paid for the content they upload without having to use ads. Users set a monthly contribution amount to the site which will receive the payment in Basic Attention Token (BAT).

In the future, users will be earning rewards in BAT for the content they watch when surfing the web. The earnings can be shared with the publishers according to the time they spend on their sites. Publishers can use the BAT tokens or convert them to fiat using the Uphold service.

Brave browser takes care of users’ privacy and data, allowing them not to share their information with third parties. Other browsers gather all the possible data from users to sell it to firms. Moreover, there are no ads shown to users if they decide to opt out from watching them, which makes surfing the web much more enjoyable and faster.

Currently, each BAT token can be purchased for $0.32 and it is the 24th largest in the market according to its market capitalization, which is over $400 million. A few months ago, BAT was added to the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase Pro, allowing users to have access to it in a very easy and straightforward way.
