Largest Bank in Belarus is Considering Launching a Crypto Exchange, Chairman of Board Affirms
Belarusbank, currently the largest bank in Belarus, is currently considering the idea of launching a cryptocurrency exchange. The information comes from the bank’s chairman, Viktor Ananich, which is currently very interested in the idea.
According to him, the digitization of the bank and its services is one of the main goals that the bank currently has for 2019 and part of the goal is to expand services to mobile phones and also to issue virtual cards instead of the old physical ones.
The chairman believes that all these efforts to digitize the banking sector will be extremely important as the next path for the future. He sees the banking market as evolving really fast and believes that the company has to keep up.
Belarusbank is the bank with the largest volume of loans, deposits, and investments in the country and operated $13.51 billion USD in 2017 only. It is a state bank managed by the State Property Committee of Belarus.
About The Crypto Platform
Users from the bank will be able to make crypto transactions on the platform and purchase more traditional assets as well but in a tokenized form. Larnabel Ventures and VP Capital will also back the platform and help it to issue 150 types of tokenized assets. The goal is to list a total of 10,000 assets over time.
Belarus has been developing its own “Silicon Valley”, the Belarus High-Technologies Park (HTP), which will be focused on cryptocurrency businesses just like the new platform. This is a major proof of the importance of this new technology in the country and how much platforms like this one will take banking to the next level in Belarus and the world.
