Latest MyEtherWallet Chrome Extension Update Gives Full Control to Users, Maximizes Privacy
Open-source, client-side interface for generating Ethereum wallets among others, MyEtherWallet (MEW) has released a Google Chrome Extension on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 update reports The Block.
As per the news outlet, the decision for such an update rests in enabling users to establish a burn address to promote better interaction with decentralized apps (DApps).
Burn addresses are those to which assets can be sent but never retrieved since no one will have access to any private key. In the context of MEW, the addresses neither contain assets nor are they connected to existing wallet addresses, ultimately maximizing on privacy. Simply put, users can now explore new DApps without having to share their permanent wallet addresses.
Speaking regarding this endeavor is the Founder and CEO of MEW, Kosala Hemachandra, who explicitly said,
“MEW Chrome extension is the first to ensure that its users are in total control of which addresses and accounts they share with any DApps, making user privacy a first priority.”
For the time being, the update will be free of cost, however, this could change over the course of time.
