LinkedIn Releases New Report
LinkedIn has just released a new report in which they inform that Blockchain is the fastest growing skill in Singapore. Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) can be used to create ledgers that help companies and parties improve their efficiency among other things. Workers with these skills tend to be working on roles such as developers, chief technology officers (CTO) and consultants.
There are other important skills in the region that have been expanding during the last years, including artificial intelligence (AI), front-end web development, human-centred design, robotic process automation (RPA) and many others.
Additionally, the demand for these skills is also three times as high as that of the overall talent base on LinkedIn, according to the report. Moreover, the demand for these skills would continue to grow only if the technology is used around the world for many other projects.
There are different companies and governments that are starting to implement blockchain-related platforms and solutions. For example, JP Morgan Chase has created its own blockchain network Quorum and a digital currency called JPM Coin. The intention is to improve transactions and settlements between clients of the firm.
Facebook has also released a new blockchain platform and digital asset called Libra. The goal behind this project is to help individuals around the world have access to financial services. This virtual currency is also going to be used to perform transactions among individuals using the applications the social network controls, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.
According to a recent survey conducted by Cognizant, an IT services provider, up to 88 percent of financial businesses in the Asia Pacific consider hat blockchain is going to be important in the future of the industry.
Countries such as India are also registering a growing trend in the number of blockchain workers. In the future, with a large number of companies interested in DLT, the number of individuals working in the industry is going to be increasing.
Hong Kong and South Korea are also countries in the region that have businesses that are developing applications based on blockchain technology. Governments have also been supporting the space for it to continue growing.
