Malaysian State To Launch Blockchain Solution That Will Track Agricultural Products
Penang, a state of Malaysia, has been considering the idea of launching a blockchain to track food and agricultural supplies recently. This is a fairly common idea recently, as many companies and governments from the world are starting to discover how to use the blockchain in order to get better products.
According to Sim Tze Tzin, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the country, this technology has several applications that can be used to help both farmers and consumers in the country. For instance, the consumers would be able to track the origin of the products that they will buy to track the history of that product.
The history would track its origins, how it was carried, etc. This way, the industry can warn consumers about outbreaks, recall products more easily and the whole shipping procedures will be considerably easier to make.
According to the minister, the main advantage of using the blockchain technology would be in using the data that is stored in the blockchain because it cannot be altered or tampered with, unlike paper records. This can improve the security of the process as well as to give more transparency to how the whole industry works and to even bypass the middlemen.
There is no specific timeframe for the launch of this project, though. It was also not revealed whether the country would be collaborating with other crypto companies in order to develop the system or if they would hire the professionals themselves to create it.
Blockchains For Agriculture Are A Reality
If someone said that it was going to use a blockchain for agriculture three or four years ao, people would probably not even understand what a blockchain, much less how it would help agriculture.
Now, countries like France and China are starting to use these tools, as well as companies like Wallmart, Carrefour, and IBM. The era of using blockchains for agriculture is a reality now and most companies are entering the business for real.
The companies and countries that will not use the technology will be quickly left behind as all economical activities are enhanced by the technology and the blockchain is one the most interesting ones. Will your country be a part of the revolution or get left behind?
