Malta Launch DELTA Summit 2018 Hosts Tim Draper as Guest of Honor
The pre-launch for the DELTA Summit for 2018 was recently held at the Auberge de Castille in Valletta, where hundreds of guests were in attendance. However, the guest of honor was Tim Draper, who is known for his billion-dollar fortune and his love for venture capitalism. The upcoming summit is open to many innovators throughout the technology industry, though that even is not going to be until October. At the official summit, Malta plans to establish their blockchain platform and digital innovation centre of excellence.
The pre-launch was hosted by Dr. Abdalla Kablan, who founded the entire summit and has won awards for his efforts as an entrepreneur. Part of his hosting duties included being the interviewer of a round table, where he had the opportunity to associate with Mr. Draper, Mr. Silvio Schembri (the junior minister for Financial Services, Digital Economy & Innovation), and Ms. Tugce Ergul (the founder and director of Angel Labs). Changpeng Zhao, the CEO of Binance, was not available physically, but he joined the conversation as well via video conference.
During Mr. Zhao’s time, he praised Malta, saying that they provide “legal clarity,” while also noting their innovative approach and the “forward thinkers” in their leadership. Mr. Draper continued on that sentiment, agreeing that Malta has a major lead that could help them surpass other countries.
Dr. Kablan, who is part of Malta’s stock exchange blockchain committee, made positive remarks about Malta as well. He said that the company is presently “on the verge of becoming the first country in the world to regulate Technology Arrangements and Services such as DLT and blockchain.”
He discussed his expectations of what’s to come, saying that the new structure of the company would help leaders to become innovators in their efforts with blockchain technology. Mr. Draper added that Malta could take this chance to become a major example to future players in the industry.
The lineup for speakers will include representatives from Everipedia, Bloomberg Media, Thomson Reuters, Binance, Okex, Evercoin, Mona.co, BitFury, Ledger Projects, and the ABE so far. However, as the creators of the summit continue to plan, updates on the event will be available in the next few weeks, though there could be changes all the way until the summit commences.
