Marguerite deCourcelle of Blockade Games’ Neon District Blockchain Video Game Sees $13 Million Valuation
After raising over $800,000, Blockade Games Inc is preparing to introduce a blockchain-based game called ‘Neon District.’ This project is run by Marguerite deCourcelle, one of the most popular artists in the Bitcoin community.
During the aforementioned seeding round, Blockade Games received support from Horizon Digital and BlockTower Capital Partners and many others. As per Ari Paul, a manager at BlockTower Capital, the choice was easy because of the repute of Marguerite. Paul further added that both the players and game developers will benefit from the integration of digital currencies and blockchain. For this reason, Paul expects a massive adoption of blockchain technology in the gaming industry.
Marguerite became famous after initiating an art puzzle with prizes worth $1 million in Bitcoin. The Neon District development team consists of individuals who contributed to the production of leading game titles such as Spider-Man and World of Warcraft. It is highly probable that deCourcelle will include puzzles in this upcoming game.
Although it is yet to launch, Neon District already looks set to become a big hit. This is because one of the project’s advisors is Chris Loverme, an experienced developer who created the first game to feature Bitcoin rewards. Regarding this, Marguerite said that Chris is bridging the gap between conventional gaming titles and Neon District. This means that it will be possible to integrate the gameplay of other titles onto Neon District.
Essentially, the design of Neon District is an improvement of CryptoKitties. During gameplay, characters can get injured, buy weapons and acquire new skills.
Naturally, Neon District is likely to appeal to crypto hobbyists. However, the game is designed in such a way that individuals with limited knowledge of digital currencies can play easily. To this end, Paul explained that players can easily transfer their in-game rewards onto another title.
In addition, Blockade Games is working on a game known as ‘Buidl Bear.' This game is intended for assisting players on how to manage public and private keys, as well as smart contracts. Marguerite believes that the launch of this title will spur innovation in the blockchain gaming industry.
