Meet Me in Court: Craig Wright’s Solicitor Sends Peter McCormack Updated Letter
Craig Wright has been called a fraud too many a time and he had to do something about it. The Bitcoin SV creator and self-acclaimed Satoshi Nakamoto had earlier sent a lawsuit letter to blogger Peter McCormack for causing “serious harm” to his reputation. Today, McCormack has received an update to the legal action and he shares it on Twitter.
Wright’s legal battle began with Hodlonaut, a popular Twitter personality and the person behind the lightning torch. Wright accused him of calling him a “fraudster.” McCormack, who is also the host of What Bitcoin Did was also sued by Wright for “harassment and libel”. McCormack received an update to the lawsuit letter which he shared the content of letter via tweet.
According to the new letter from Wright’s lawyers, McCormack has to retract his claims and the podcaster has to declare in a UK court that his statements claiming Wright was not Satoshi were libelous. McCornmark tweeted:
“The following is the latest letter from his solicitors of Craig Wright. Based on the copyright news yesterday, it is very clear their game plan. I have until Friday to make a decision. Not contesting this is an option but in no way will I read a statement in court as they want.”
However, in a little twist, McCormack does not have a lawyer acting for him. So the letter states that Wright does not want a default Judgement.
He believes that he can still convince the court that he is Satoshi. The letter states:
“[Craig Wright] wishes to achieve proper vindication by refuting [Peter McCormack’s] claims that he has lied about his role in creating bitcoin.”
McCormack responded in a tweet that he has spoken with two top legal firms and will make a response in a week. However, McCormack has revealed that he might not contest the letter as he does not want to “give him the satisfaction.”
However, there is a buzz in the crypto community over this decision as some individuals feel that he should contest the letter. CNBC’s Crypto Trader Host, Ran NeuNer tweeted,
“Bro, you came out guns blazing saying you would fight this until the end! You rallied all of Crypto twitter to get behind you in this. Now you considering not contesting it? Is this what they teach you in Bedford.”
