Mike Novogratz’s Bitcoin Optimism is Sky High, Nouriel Roubini Bashes BTC in Another Lame Attempt
- “I feel better about Bitcoin today than I have at any time in my career,” says Novogratz
- Roubini calls Bitcoin a ‘s- -tcoin’
Bitcoin has jumped above $6,000 and experts are looking for the next level we would be aiming for.
According to, Mike Novogratz, Galaxy Digital founder, and CEO Bitcoin will struggle around $6,000. During the SALT Conference in Las Vegas, Novogratz told Bloomberg,
“I feel better about Bitcoin today than I have at any time in my career.”
He further emphasized on Bitcoin as a store of value that is just like gold. Novogratz sees it as a bullish environment where world-class solutions like Fidelity are coming into custody. Moreover, professionals and regulators are also coming that will make the crypto space more institutionalized.
However, during the same conference, Nouriel Roubini yet again stirred some storm over cryptocurrencies as the notoriously bearish NYU economist blasted the leading cryptocurrency.
Calling Bitcoins “s–coins”
Roubini who has been nicknamed Dr. Doom for predicting the 2008 financial crisis, told the crowd at the SALT conference,
“There are 500,000 items on Google if you search ‘s- -tcoins. It’s a technical term.”
This is not the first time, rather he is infamous for constantly taking a dig at Bitcoin. Last year, unlike many other mainstream Bitcoin bashers, Roubini dismissed Bitcoin’s underlying technology blockchain by calling it “bulls- -t” and called cryptocurrency enthusiasts
However, at that time Bitcoin has been going through a brutal winter that saw its price tumble about 85 percent from its December 2017 peak of $20,000. Meanwhile, altcoins were doing a lot worse as many lost more than 95 percent of their value from peak.
Roubini sat on the panel with the co-founder of Ethereum Joseph Lubin and Bitcoin bull Novogratz.
“I don’t care about the price of bitcoin,”
said Roubini in objection to Novogratz’s challenge for him to wear a bullish on Bitcoin T-shirt if the price of the flagship cryptocurrency surpass $6k by Christmas while Novogratz offered to wear a T-shirt saying “Nouriel was right” if BTC price doesn’t scale to the $6k mark.
Novogratz was clearly winning that challenge as Bitcoin has already jumped above $6k as it currently trades at $6,051.
Meanwhile, Lubin counters that the points made by Roubini against cryptocurrencies were based on old data.
