Movo, found online at Movo.cash, is a mobile app that lets you send and spend money from your phone without using a bank account. Find out how it works today in our review.
What Is MOVO?
Movo describes itself as a “mobile cash and payments” app. The app is available as a free download for iOS and Android. Using Movo, you can send and receive money and make payments. Best of all, you can do all of this without owning a bank account, submitting a credit check, or verifying any part of your financial background.
In other words, Movo lets you participate in the modern banking and money transfer system without any verification required.
As of May 2018, Movo is only available in the United States.
On May 11, the Silicon Valley-based Movo announced a new service called MovoChain. That service allows you to convert cryptocurrency to cash in minutes in exchange for a fee of about 5%.
Let’s take a closer look at Movo’s core features and how it works.
MOVO HyperBIN Digital Payments With Fraud-Prevention App Features
Most major banks now offer mobile apps for iOS and Android. Movo is essentially a mobile banking app that isn’t attached to any bank.
You can sign up for Movo with no credit check required. You can send and receive money and make payments regardless of your financial background or credit history. Movo also promises to offer no hidden fees.
MOVO Core Functions
Mobile Banking And Payments On Any iOS Or Android

Send And Receive Money Instantly At No Cost
With just a few taps, Movo lets you send money at no cost to anyone in the United States – even if you don’t own a bank account. Movo lets you send money to a phone number, an email address, or even a Facebook friend from directly within the app. Receivers can securely receive and claim their money regardless of whether they have a bank account.
Generate Virtual Cards
Movo lets you spend your account balance using virtual cards. You can create a virtual VISA card to instantly spend money over-the-phone (at tap-to-pay terminals that accept Apple Pay or Samsung Pay) or online merchants. You can add your Movo virtual card to apps like Uber, order from Amazon, or pay for a coffee at Starbucks. The Movo virtual prepaid VISA card is issued by a bank called Metropolitan Commercial Bank, an FDIC member. Movo’s virtual prepaid cards will give you a one-time use card number. This is designed to prevent theft and protect your account balance. You load cash to the card through VISA ReadyLink.
Movo lets you manage your money more effectively. You can share money, deposits, purchases, bill payments, and virtual card numbers in a convenient place from directly within the app.
Schedule Bill Payments
Movo lets you schedule upcoming bill payments. You can send a payment to anyone. Or, you can generate a virtual VISA card to pay anybody that accepts credit cards.
Multiple Ways To Add Funds
You can add funds to your Movo account through Visa ReadyLink, bank transfers, Venmo, PayPal, or even Facebook.
How MOVO Works
Movo replicates the functions and features of apps like your mobile banking app or Venmo. So how does Movo work? What’s the secret to its no-cost payments?
The platform is built using a patent pending technology called HyperBIN, described on Movo.cash as “a cutting-edge system that links the old world infrastructure of yesterday to the new world of revolutionary payment technologies promoting economic inclusion on a global scale.”
There’s limited information about HyperBIN available online. Movo.cash has a page dedicated to HyperBIN – but all we see is the word HyperBIN with a trademark symbol next to it.
What Is MOVOChain?
Using a simple online form, you enter the amount you wish to send, the mobile number or email address of the recipient, and a note to your recipient (optional).
You can send your own bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash to yourself, for example, and access that cash using a Movo virtual prepaid debit card. After you send money to the recipient (or yourself), that money is accessible through the Movo app.
Although Movo’s main money transfer system claims to charge no fees, their MovoChain service has relatively high fees. You’ll pay 5% plus a flat fee of $1.
MovoChain was announced on May 11, 2018.
What Problems Does MOVO Seek To Solve?
Why do we need a platform like Movo? What problems does the platform solve? Some of the problems mentioned by Movo include:
- The way we pay is shifting away from low-tech, paper-based tools, expensive registers, and physical card swipes to online and digital payments; modern payment technology, however, is struggling to catch app
- Existing payment technologies like EMV, NFC, Apple Pay, bitcoin, and more are gaining worldwide acceptance – but they’re also creating problematic lag between mass merchant and consumer adoption
- Data theft is on the rise and data breaches create opportunities for your money to get stolen and your accounts to get abused
- MovoChain was announced specifically to address the problem faced by many cryptocurrency users, where they struggle to access the value of their bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash holdings
