Namibian Hopeful of Using Bitcoin Cash to Save Endangered African Wild Dog

There’s no limit to what cryptocurrencies can be used for and wildlife conservation is being added to the list. In Namibia, the African wild dog is almost extinct and one crypto enthusiast is hopeful that the species can be saved. Nadja Leroux hopes to use Bitcoin Cash to help protect these important animals in the African wildlife space.

BCH Transfer In The African Wild

Leroux who’s a Namibian wildlife conservationist received about USD 10 in the form of Bitcoin Cash while deep in the African wilderness. The wildlife lover set up a Bitcoin Cash fund where she targets to raise about 1,600 USD which she will use to acquire the technology necessary for this conservation endeavor. As of 9th September she had raised USD 33 in the form of BCH.

According to her, Bitcoin Cash allows for speedy transactions and brings convenience for Africans who want to do business. Through a tweet, she asked ‘why BCH?’ In her tweet she encouraged people to join the noble cause of helping communities to peacefully co-exist with wild animals. From her tweet, she gives the number of existing African wild dogs in the world as 4,500.

Proceeds Of The BCH Fund

Leroux intends to buy an ipad with the proceeds of the fund. The reason for getting this gadget is to start immediate data entry and also carry out analysis. She believes that’s it’s important for her to have the right technology in order to effectively carry out her conservation activities. She has so far spent about 121 days out in the field laying the ground work for her conservation project.

Despite the fact that Namibia banned the use of cryptocurrencies in the country, Leroux still wants to give it a shot. The Namibian regulator didn’t give any legal specifications of the ban which is quite common in most countries. The country was however open to the possibilities of blockchain technology. As of now, Leroux is optimistic that she will achieve her target but isn’t sure how the Namibian authorities are going to react to her plan.
