Nasdaq Head of Blockchain Management Thinks the Technology Would Change the World
Johan Toll, head of blockchain product management at Nasdaq, said on September 14 that blockchain industry would revolutionize the world. During the interview with Jill Malandrino, he talked about different projects that Nasdaq is currently implementing and many other topics.
According to Mr. Toll, one of the most interesting projects is related with the tokenization of asset issues and settlements of mutual funds. Moreover, the company is also working in the trading of open-ended funds in other countries. Some banks in the Nordic region are trying to replace old infrastructure that is old and antiquated.
At the same time, he explained that they were not only thinking about how to handle asset issues but also how to improve payment security.
Furthermore, he told that blockchain technology is able to transform different industries and change the whole market. There were other factors that helped the company improve its services, including working side by side with clients, regulators, institutions and other important participants in the market.
Mr. Toll said that he is really excited about the most interesting project that is currently being developed by Nasdaq and that these projects are able to potentially change the markets.
He remarked that Nasdaq is also able to enter other industries as long as there is demand for buying this products and services.
About the future of the financial industry as a whole, Johan said:
“I think it will stay for sure, blockchain is about changing the relationship between the issuers and the investors. Bringing them closer together will speed up and secure the markets.”
There are many different companies that have been using the technology to improve their products and services. We can mention JP Morgan, which has developed a blockchain platform for its clients and that other companies are now embracing.
In the future, Nasdaq is planning to launch different products to the market, including listing cryptocurrencies in 2019 and potentially become a cryptocurrency exchange.
