nChain CEO Stays Hopeful for the Future of Bitcoin SV, Despite Multi-Exchange Delistings
Craig Wright has ignited a battle amongst the cryptocurrency community of the world that is having detrimental side effects for the whole industry. As Wright sought to find the identity of one user who called him a “fraud” while denying that he is the creator of Bitcoin, he offered a bounty of anyone with details.
That was not well received at all, as CEO Changpeng Zhao of Binance inadvertently started off a chain of events as they announced that Wright’s behavior was unacceptable and that they were delisting the coin.
Still, there is more that is impacted than just a single coin being delisted. Jimmy Nyugen, for example, supported Bitcoin SV, but it has lost over 30% of its value since Wednesday last week. To make matters worse, his company nChain has been rumored to just be a scam, but that does not mean Nguyen is worried or that he’s lost his optimism.
Speaking at the Paris Blockchain Week Summit during a panel, Nguyen spoke about the BSV community with a positive tone, even praising the “ingenuity” of the people involved. He expressed that he feels that the BSV token is following through with the original vision that Satoshi had. Clearly, the audience did not share the same faith in the coin, looking on suspiciously at Nguyen.
When Nguyen was interviewed by Decrypt later in the day, he was clearly disappointed in how exchanges are now treating BSV, saying that the decisions of an exchange should not be “personal.” He added that delisting the coin “reflects a sad commentary on the state of the cryptocurrency industry.” He explained his stance, that the way the head of a company feels about another individual should not affect the users of their platform, implying that he thinks the Binance CEO chose wrongly.
Most people have taken the other side in this matter, seeing the delisting as some kind of vindication. Founder of the Cardano cryptocurrency, Charles Hoskinson, said that he is “really proud of CZ and Binance,” adding that they “stood up” for the community by fighting back “against bullying and fraud.”
Even though Nguyen is opposed to making a business decision due to a personal qualm, Decrypt questioned whether he would have preferred that Wright did not “go out on a limb.”
Nguyen noted that the idea of saying that he would have preferred that path is “tempting,” but the course of events have shown many things in the crypto industry that “need to be exposed.”
