New Cardano 1.5 Update Introduces ADA Community To Ouroboros BFT And Daedalus 0.13.0
Cardano 1.5 Has Been Released On The Mainnet, Leading To The Introduction Of The Ouroboros BFT And The Daedalus 0.13.0
With the recent launch of the Cardano 1.5 that was done on the mainnet has been marked as the last major milestone that has been achieved by the Byron development phase, plus the move that has been made towards the Shelley phase.
There was a brief reunion that was done on the testnet early this month; this is where Cardano went ahead to release the new Cardano 1.5 on to the mainnet, all this happened on 20th March. The company went ahead to introduce a new consensus protocol together with a newly upgraded wallet for its users. With this new development, the company could not resist announcing it on their official website.
“Today we release Cardano 1.5 on the Cardano mainnet. The Cardano 1.5 release is a milestone because it is the last major Cardano release of the Byron development phase, which we have been in since the launch of mainnet.”
“Cardano 1.5 is important in preparation for moving to the Shelley development phase,” the post added.
If you would like to know more about the development phase you can easily track it on the Cardano roadmap that has been published on their official website.
The Features You Should Look Forward To Seeing
The company has developed several features that you should look out for, some of the key features are the new Ouroboros BFT. It is a new type of consensus protocol which has been able to market the move that has been made from the Ouroboros Classis, which is the current protocol on the network, to the Ouroboros Genesis, the new protocol that will be used in the Shelley phase.
Once that has been considered to be the very first proof of stake protocol that has been able to match the securities guarantees of the proof of work protocols, it is the likes of Bitcoin.
With the new 1.5 release it will unfortunately not mean that there will be an immediate activation of the new Ouroboros BFT, instead, this new system will be activated later on in the next update that will be done. One that has already been designed to function like a hard fork that will be able to deactivate the current Classic consensus protocol and in turn it will activate Ouroboros BFT.
With the later update, it has been made to be automatic and seamless, as all the parties involved have already agreed to the change that will take place.
What To Know About The Cardano?
The Cardano has been designed as the underlying blockchain to be used for the ADA crypto coin, and with the new update that is set to take place includes the latest version of the native digital currency for the wallet, which is the Daedalus 0.13.0.
With the official announcement that was made it urges the Daedalus users together with the crypto exchanges to ensure they have upgraded to the Cardano 1.5 to ensure they make the hard fork. As for the former, they are able to do so by easily installing the Daedalus 0.13.0 through the prompts that have been provided, as for the latter you will need to ensure you have switched from the v0 wallet API and straight to the v1 before you actually do the upgrade to the Cardano 1.5.
According to the posts that were made there are a few additional improvements that might be required.
“… performance improvements when rendering lists with a large number of transactions and wallet addresses, the addition of features for detecting insufficient disk space, and a new screen that visualizes the block storage consolidation process.”
With the launch that was made of the Cardano 1.5 it was able to trigger a rise of around 7% when looking at the ADA trading price, where it went from levels of $0.05 to about $0.054, a clear indication that the change has been welcomed by most.
