New Cardano (ADA) 2018 Roadmap Updates And Innovation Advancements

Release Of Marlowe Smart Contract Tool

Marlowe is a project built and funded by IOHK for the Cardano blockchain. It is a blockchain-independent framework used for writing financial smart contracts by visually composing known building blocks. One designs smart contracts with a drag-and-drop browser interface that is easy for non-programmers to build and customize their secure smart contracts.

Reward Sharing Schemes For Staking Pools – Research Paper Released

Basically, ADA holders will be able to earn money while they sleep with Cardano Staking Pools. Cardano is built on the Proof of Stake (PoS) platform meaning that a person can mine a block according to how many coins they hold. Critics have raised concerns that PoS could lead to centralization but the Cardano team have released a research paper that addresses the concerns and show it is a sustainable staking structure.

Rust Library For Cardano

The Cardano Rust project will allow developers to build and integrate their own products particularly helping with the development of mobile applications of Cardano. This open source library is opening up Cardano development to a wider range of third parties further decentralizing the ecosystem.

Optimized Block Storage

This will reduce the space needed to store the blockchain on a user’s machine. instead of a single file being used to store a block produced, it will be needed to store each epoch and this will reduce the number of files needed to store the blockchain for a year from about 1.5 million to 200 files. Hence, less hard drive space is required. The speed of downloading the entire Cardano blockchain has also improved.

Plutus Core

Plutus Core is a simple scripting language with very simple interaction between scripts and the blockchain. A paper was released that defined a framework for the internal logic of smart contracts with the hopes of avoiding issues like the Parity bug, which froze $169m of ETH in 2017.

Daedalus Wallet Now Available For Linux

Since Linux user requested for access to Cardano, IOHK has been working on it and Daedalus has been available for Linux as a public beta release since the Cardano 1.1 software update. Now, the full release of Daedalus for Linux will be included in Cardano 1.4. This makes it available on all major operating system.

Yoroi Desktop Wallet Under Review

A light-client desktop wallet, Yoroi can be used as an alternative to Daedalus. It is for users who want to transact in ADA but don’t require all of Daedalus’ features. Yoroi does not require users to download and verify a full copy of the Cardano blockchain hence, it is quick and easy to set up. The final product will be released in mid-September.
