New ‘Satoshi’s Treasure’ Game with a Million Dollar Bitcoin Prize is Forcing Players to Collaborate
Satoshi Treasure a new alternate reality game with $1million worth of bitcoins has hit the global gaming market, the firm revealed on April 15.
The game, which many have likened to the bitcoin version of Ready Player One, a movie that revolves around a game that encourages teamwork is forcing players to collaborate, work together and improvise so that they can win the ultimate prize.
Teamwork is Key
Bitcoin games are becoming quite commonplace in the gaming world, but Satoshi Treasure is one of a kind, as it revolves around teamwork, collaboration and of course tactical analysis.
Commenting on the exploit of the new game, Eric Meltzer, Primitive Ventures co-founder and the game's co-creator said:
‘'A lot of people have joked that we're doing the bitcoin version of Ready Player One. The game is going to have a leaderboard to show which teams have the most keys”.
The keys to this bitcoin wallet were divided into 1,000 fragments, which will require a minimum of 400 key pieces to move the funds.
The flexibility of the game is one excellent feature it possesses.
Players can collect and unravel clues anyway they want, they can even decide to sell leads if they want.
Even the co-creator Eric Meltzer himself donated a significant portion of the bitcoin loot, with unnamed angel investors capping it off.
Relating the ease at which the players are and their unlimited freedom, Meltzer said:
‘'Forget about the rules, just go goddamn play.”
He also revealed that more than 6,000 people have signed up for the games mailing list for critical updates.
To make the game more fun, hard and also exciting to players, no single person has the knowledge of all the keys and clues; this is because Meltzer enlisted the help of ZCash co-creator Ian Miers and 18 other contributors.
The puzzles are littered everywhere all over the internet and sometimes printed and pasted in the real world.
“There are some clues that are very scavenger hunt-y, and clues where it's purely logic puzzles or math problems”, Meltzer said, while adding that the result will numerically yield a key fragment.
Some of the clues are already in the open and the first clue released yesterday pointed the players to the direction of the Blockstream satellite, which broadcasts data related to bitcoin.
Efforts are on the way to create an application that will help players keep track of significant updates and clues, but it will not be required to play. The app will be a conduit for sponsorship and will also partners other brands.
